Last weekend we saw the FNCS Group Stage begin, but which teams have made it through the FNCS Heat 1 leaderboard? The Group Stage consists of three heats. In each, one lobby of Trios go head-to-head. Winners of games, and the most consistent, make it through to the Finals. These stages can be tricky for teams. Already in FNCS Major 3 Group Stage, we’ve seen some of the biggest Trios lose out.
If a team fails to qualify through the Groups, they’ll have to risk the Last Chance Qualifier. A gantlet where pretty much every runner up is competing tooth and nail. With only a handful making it through. For most teams, this is the last chance to get that slot in finals. It’s also something of a bad omen for a team being looked at to win the FNCS Major 3 to miss out at Groups, or to some, even to get through without winning a game.
We’ve seen some strange results already. With players like Th0masHD missing out. This is the FNCS Heat 1 leaderboard and how the tournament went:
The FNCS Group Stage got started this weekend! It features a unique format. Players have to win a game to make it through to the Finals. Or, they can try to rely on the consistency places at the end of the games. But with fewer games than normal, and unpredictable factors, it’s more difficult to rely on this method to secure your spot.
When a team wins a game, they leave the Heat. So, the lobby gets smaller each game. It can lead to some unique changes, like teams taking over the better POIs which are left empty. Some teams even try to avoid winning a game until late, to maximize their realistic practise in the season’s FNCS meta. How have the first group fared though? This is the FNCS Heat 1 leaderboard:

| No | Trio | Total |
| 1 | TruleX, t3eny, Skvii | 1,193 |

The biggest result on the FNCS Heat 1 Leaderboard wasn’t the winners, but one of the best Fortnite players of all time losing out. Th0masHD might not have an FNCS win. But he’s one of the best players ever active in the game. Thanks to the weird format for the Groups though, his Trio has just missed out this season.

The miss wasn’t quite because of a bad performance rom Th0masHD, Sky, and scroll though. The Trio missed out on one game. Since this is a five-game session, there wasn’t much room for bad games. A connection error meant they played one fewer. While they didn’t win a game, this missed round did mean they just came in just under on the consistency qualification. They’ll have to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier if they want to make it through.

The FNCS Heat 1 leaderboard had some impressive results across the board, but one trio that attracted a lot of attention were the Major 1 FNCS winners. Pollo, Acorn, and Ajerss. This Trio were the biggest names in Group 1.
After a few missed opportunities early on, the Trio were really struggling to win a game. We saw a bit of a change in strategy. Since they’ll be contested at their drop spot in Finals, it seems they’re now going for higher kill games. To even out the wasted games where they die off spawn. This more aggressively strategy did mean they got to the final game without a win.

It wasn’t quite as dramatic as that would imply though. The Trio clearly had enough points to get through on consistency. But it’s great to make it through with a win.
Elsewhere, connection issues like we saw in the EU FNCS Heat 1 leaderboard caused problems for Bugha, Threats, and Kreaz. But despite a bit of an impact to their points, they still made it through with a win.
That’s what happened in the FNCS Heat 1. But we’ve got two more Group stages still to play! These last two groups will take place in every region. Some of the best Fortnite Trios are going to be competing to secure their slot at the Finals.
