Fortnite does collaborations with pretty much everything, but a public safety announcement might be a new one. That’s apparently coming as a Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite crossover. If you keep an eye on Fortnite collaborations, this might be a more surprising one. Kind of like Skibidi Toilet X Fortnite, it’s one that might have some older fans looking up just what it even is.

An Australian PSA is Geting a Fortnite Collab

Right now, Fortnite is in the middle of a major Halloween event. One that’s been dominated by crossovers. Then we’ve got a mini-season coming, which is one big crossover. If you’re waiting or something original out of Fortnite, it might be a while. However, smaller collabs like this probably won’t be a whole season! Instead, it could be a song or something similarly small. What is the Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite collab and why is it coming to the game at all? It’s not the most conventional choice for a crossover.

What is Dumb Ways to Die?

Before we get to the Fortnite leaks about this crossover, what even is it? Unless you’re a keen fan of Australian safety announcements, you can be forgiven for not knowing. It’s debateable how many will know what Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite is before it drops.

Dumb Ways to Die is a campaign in Australia to educate people on dangers. Originally, the dangers of the railway. A nice cartoon teaching people to have some common since around railway lines. But it’s had a bit of a life outside of that.

The first version of it became a bit of a viral hit. A breakout on social media that became popular beyond it’s function to not play on railways. Between the original cartoon and people utilizing the song for TikToks, it got a life of its own. It now goes quite a bit further. Which lead to the purpose of it completely changing.

The Dumb Ways to Die campaign is no stranger to being exploited beyond safety lessons. A company purchased the campaign in 2021 to make NFTs out of it. Now looking for further ways to exploit the PSA, Dumb Ways to Die is teaming up with Fortnite. There has already been a video game based around the PSA, and a few sequels. All for mobile devices, with quick puzzle solving gameplay. These will be coming to the Epic Games Store, which is why it’s getting a collab in the recent Fortnite update.

This new collaboration would be its first time entering an existing game like Fortnite though! This is what we know about the collaboration so far.

Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite Crossover

That’s what it is, but what is the Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite crossover? At one point a crossover this vague would be a bit confusing. Unless you could make a skin out of it, what could you do? The game now has shoes, cars, instruments, it can do collabs with just about anything. It appears we’re getting a more traditional collab this time though. Although, a skin won’t be coming as part of Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite.

Fortnite leakers have a good idea of the types of items that are coming. It seems this will be an item shop collab, not something in the main Battle Royale game itself. This are the items we’re expecting:

  • Emote – Likely using the song behind it
  • Back Bling
Item Shop - When Does the Fortnite Item Shop Refresh

These come from leaker @realAlucar on Twitter. It’s two items which should be based around the content from the PSA. For the back bling, that’s a bit different. This could be a cartoon character from the campaign, but it’s a bit less specific than the emote. It seems a Jam Track isn’t part of the collab surprisingly. Despite the song being featured in the emote.

When will it release is the final question or these next Fortnite collabs. We’ve got a pretty stacked item shop for the rest of the month. But this is apparently still coming this week! Arriving October 23rd according to leakers like HypeX. This will tie into the Dumb Ways to Die game release in the Epic Games Store. It could mean you’ll get the new cosmetics for free by purchasing the game through the store too.

This is still a leaked release date though. With the game coming to the Epic Games Store too it looks pretty likely. All 4 players who are eagerly awaiting the Dumb Ways to Die Fortnite crossover should take it with a grain of salt. Provided there is anyone waiting with baited breath for Fortnite to feature a safety campaign as a back bling.
