What season is Fortnite on right now? Since the game started to give itself Chapters, and mini seasons, and other complications, it’s not as simple to follow. There’s been a load of different naming structures for Fortnite seasons, but what season is Fortnite on now? The current season has just been extended, meaning we’ll be in our third longest so far.

The current Fortnite season is Chapter 7 Season 1. Which follows Epic’s current naming conventions for them. Although, it’s far from the seventh season. We’ve had tons of them now. Not to mention other modes. Festival, OG, there’s plenty of other Fortnite seasons running at once. This is the answer to what season is Fortnite on for each of the biggest modes:
Fortnite is on Chapter 7 Season 1.

That’s the first season of Chapter 7. Once Fortnite got to its tenth season, it inexplicably shifted its naming from just Season 1-9, to roman numerals and became Season X. Then even more confusingly, they ditched that structure entirely for the next season.
Turning the next Fortnite season into Chapter 2 Season 1. It retroactively made the first 10 seasons into Chapter 1. And we never thought about the roman numerals again, some things just get left behind.
We’ve roughly followed that system ever since. With a new Chapter every once in a while reseting the count for season numbers. But the total overall has grown. If we were still just using plain numbers, we’d be on season 39 That’s counting all of the numbered seasons, but also the mini seasons. Month long seasons which don’t get numbers. Sometimes they don’t even get names, just the Fortnite season theme to simplify things for the player base.
These are the Fortnite seasons and their overall numbers:

Asking what season is Fortnite on doesn’t always mean Battle Royale anymore. Fortnite Festival has its own set of seasons too! Although, players don’t use number to label these seasons quite as much. instead, it tends to be based on what Fortnite skin has been featured. That’s the main artist it’s dedicated to.
The Fortnite season for Festival currently is Chappell Roan. that’s’ the thirteenth Fortnite Festival season. These are all of them we’ve had to date:

Fortnite OG is a little different too. This mode does have seasons, it’s re-running the older seasons of Battle Royale. Beginning with Season 1 and stretching now to Season 7. That’s what season is Fortnite on for OG.
Once that Fortnite season ends, we’ll move into Season 8. This mode does bend the timeline a little. With some things being in the game longer or shorter than they were originally. However, it is a very accurate recreation of Fortnite OG. With the major difference being the average player’s skill level. it’s an incredibly sweaty mode.
OG will re-run each of the Chapter 1 seasons. It isn’t clear exactly what will happen afterwards though. We could see the game repeat Chapter 2, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Since OG is moving towards later Fortnite seasons anyway, we’ll find out soon.

Fortnite has a load more official modes, like Blitz, Reload, and other metaverse game modes. These don’t have seasons though. So what season is Fortnite on doesn’t matter there.

Some of them do receive regular updates and batches of new content. Lego even has a Pass. However, this isn’t grouped into a season. It’s more of an occasional drop that mixes things up. Like a new map coming to the Fortnite Reload rotation, or Blitz getting a new gimmick. You just have to watch out for these and they drop at any time.
