Darth Vader in Fortnite has replaced the old boss! He’s still in the game but in a different style and moved to one of a few new locales. Right now, he’s basically the most popular thing on the map. Player are all gravitating towards him to see what’s changed now that the Darth Vader AI Fortnite character has replaced the old boss.
Now, when you drop into a game, you can recruit Vader as a new type of NPC. He’s going to be available as a companion in the game. What’s really got people excited is that you can talk to him as a teammate. Vader is voiced by a new AI. There are definitely some worries about what this means for voice actors in Fortnite. Where is the New Darth Vader in Fortnite?
For most of the season, Vader was appearing in a single POI. The Vader’s Shogun Solitude landing spot. However, he has now moved. It’s introduced a little bit of randomness for the encounter. There are now three separate locations. Vader will spawn at one of the three. This is where you can catch him:
- Vader Samurai’s Solitude
- Mountains and Train Tunnel by Masked Meadows
- Section between Foxy Floodgate and Seaport City
These spots will be where he spawns, you can find them by the landing pad there.
At first, Vader is just at the landing spot. Waiting. However, if enough time passes in the game and no one collects him, the map stars to mark his location. It seems the game is pushing players to engage with him, even if they’ve not seen the Fortnite news that the Fortnite Vader spot has moved yet.
These new spawn points are random, but since they’re close you could land on the higher mountain around here and try to scope out where he is. The new Darth Vader AI Fortnite landing spot resembles the older Vader boss’ behavior. Where you’d have to look for his Imperial Shuttle. You can use the little landing spaceship as a clue to which of the spots he’s landed in. You can’t fly it though, even though there’s flyable ships this season.
Defeating Darth Vader
One you’ve tracked down Darth Vader in Fortnite, it isn’t as simple as walking up to him. You have to defeat him first. Then he joins your party as a new teammate. Once you head over, it’s the same Vader boss fight we’ve had in the last few Star Wars events. There will be some Storm troopers to take down, then the boss himself.
He can be a pain up close. However, keep your distance and use builds and he’s simple enough to take down. Just block him when he does bigger attacks.
The bigger problem is other players going in for Vader too. These won’t go down so easy. If you’re quick enough you might get away without too many firefights. You’re only trying to hire Darth Vader in Fortnite, but at times it can feel like the FNCS finals going for the newest feature.
How Does the Fortnite Vader AI Work?
Once you’ve defeated him, two things will happen. The first is that you get the lightsaber mythic you’ve been getting all season from him. However, he also now joins you as a boss NPC. Once this happens, he’ll be a teammate like the hireable NPCs we usually get. There’s one difference with Vader though, you can talk to him.
The Darth Vader Fortnite AI uses a robot version of the iconic voice. An AI of Vader actually provided the voice for the character in some Disney productions like the Obi-Wan streaming show already. The announcement also came with a quote from the estate of James Earl Jones clarifying that all permissions had been granted to use the actor’s voice prior to his death. Clearly Fortnite is trying quite hard to persuade people that the AI is all above board.
The Darth Vader AI can be spoken to using a new communication key bind, you can set it in your settings. Some players have already tried to push Vader past what Epic imagined for his conversation.
Players Have Already Made Vader NSFW
Using the new feature, players can have whole conversations with a Darth Vader AI. So the first thing a lot of people did was try to get him to break the rules. Get a bit non-family friendly.
One streamer managed to get Vader to say the F word within hours of the update dropping. Given the creativity of the player base, it probably won’t be long until players figure out how to make Fortnite Vader say worse things.
