I really never thought I’d see the day. Having lost in yesterday’s Semi-Final, Imperial Valkyries have lost their seemingly total stranglehold on the women’s CS2 scene after eight consecutive ESL Impact wins. No, we have a new champion at ESL Impact League Season 7, and it’s none other than FURIA Fe.
The Brazilians put on a masterclass in endurance to outlast Supernova Comets, who were on a dream run of their own in their first-ever Impact appearance. Here’s how they did it.
Think back to the end of 2024, with the conclusion of ESL Impact League Season 6. FURIA Fe were so close, but yet so far in the Grand Final against Imperial Valkyries, even managing to take a map from what was indisputably the best female CS2 team in the world at the time. It was real heartbreak, and I remember believing at the time that FURIA Fe should’ve won in two.

Not six months later, those bad memories are just that. They got their revenge over Imperial Valkyries in the Semi-Final of this Dallas tournament, their crowning moment coming just a day later. It wasn’t a formality, though. Supernova Comets shot hard, and FURIA Fe were left with a job to do after going down a map to kick off the series. Such is their resilience, though, that they were able to complete the reverse sweep and become the first ever team outside of that Nigma Galaxy and Imperial Valkyries core to win an ESL Impact event.
It’s only right that a North American team were there to play in front of the Dallas crowd. It may not have been a winning finish, but Supernova Comets still gave fans plenty to cheer for, and at one point, they absolutely looked like they would go all the way and win the event. It wasn’t to be, but what a debut!

Particular praise has to go to empathy in particular. A ridiculous 35-10 opening map on Ancient had Supernova Comets in dreamland, putting up a 2.65 rating that had them thinking of glory. She was a real nightmare to FURIA Fe in the opener, but it’s a shame we couldn’t see much more of that as the series progressed. Even though they couldn’t secure the win here, there’s no doubt that we haven’t seen the last of Supernova Comets.
