Ever since Valve released the knife tradeup update, the price of the cheapest Covert CS2 skins has gone through the roof. This is because players can now use five Covert (red) items to trade up to golds, including knife and gloves sets. This works the same way as any other CS2 tradeup, with the potential items available being dictated by the skins used. As a result, players are now regularly on the lookout for the cheapest Covert skins in CS2, as they look to put together solid knife tradeups without breaking the bank. We’re going to show you some of the best options.

Before we start, it’s important to clarify a few things. Some Covert CS2 skins can’t be traded up at all, as they’re not part of a collection that includes any gold items. This means that, for example, while the new AK-47 Aphrodite is technically the cheapest Covert CS2 skin by some distance, it won’t feature here. This guide is also focused exclusively on knife tradeups, so Covert skins that only trade up to gloves won’t be featured, either.

The AWP Neo-Noir is notable for having a pretty small gap between its Battle-Scarred and Factory New prices. At $40, it’s quite affordable for a Battle-Scarred tradeup. However, it’s available for $60 in Factory New, making it the cheapest Covert CS2 skin overall if you want to do a knife tradeup at the best possible float. Why? The AWP Neo-Noir is part of the Danger Zone Collection, which features four different knives: the Navaja Knife, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife, and Ursus Knife. If you like these options, that’s perfect, but they’re not exactly the most popular choices, which is why the Factory New price is lower.

You can use five M4A4 Desert Strike skins to guarantee a Huntsman Knife in your CS2 Covert tradeup. In Battle-Scarred, it’s a very reasonable $30, but the price quickly gets out of hand at $160 Factory New. Still, for Huntsman enjoyers, this is the skin for that particular CS2 knife tradeup.

The Glock-18 Gold Toof has a huge difference in value based on float. In Battle-Scarred, it’s one of the very cheapest Covert skins CS2 has to offer at $32. But the fact that it only offers the Kukri Knife may be a dealbreaker for many players, especially those who want a Factory New version. At $185 in the best float, this one is far from cheap, but no Covert is at this point.

The MAC-10 Stalker is here based on the price of its lower floats only. Its $35 Battle-Scarred price tag is low enough to put it among the cheapest CS2 Covert skins, but at $450 in Factory New, this one is a non-starter for knife tradeups at high floats. If you’re happy to settle, then this is a great option for tradeups in the Shattered Web Collection, including the Nomad Knife, Paracord Knife, Skeleton Knife, and Survival Knife.

The AWP Chrome Cannon is one of the newest skins on this list. And with the lack of fresh knives in recent years, this means that you can only get the Kukri Knife in a Chrome Cannon tradeup. It’s definitely among the less popular CS2 knives, but that’s the compromise you’re making by using this skin. You can expect to find this for around $28 in Battle-Scarred, making it technically the cheapest Covert skin CS2 players can reach for when doing a tradeup. Factory New becomes the issue here, shooting up to $105 at the best float.

If you want to guarantee a Falchion Knife in your CS2 knife tradeup, then using an AWP Hyper Beast is the best way to do it. In Battle-Scarred, it’s one of the cheapest Covert skins CS2 has to offer, starting at around $35. It’s still fairly affordable at $60 going up to Minimal Wear, but it does take a significant jump at Factory New at around $270. Reminder: you’ll need five of them to trade up to a Falchion.

The M4A4 The Battlestar was released as part of the Wildfire Collection, which only contains various Bowie Knife skins. This means that with five of these, you can guarantee a Bowie Knife tradeup. It’s extremely affordable compared to most Covert CS2 skins in Battle-Scarred, starting at around $32. Expect this to run you back around $210 in Factory New, making Minimal Wear or Field-Tested a much more appealing option here.

The FAMAS Commemoration is a celebration of Counter-Strike’s history, featuring references to classic CS maps from past and present. It’s part of the CS20 Collection, which introduced the Classic Knife to the game. It’s not everyone’s favorite, sure, but it’s great for those who want a hit of nostalgia. This skin is one of the cheapest Covert skin CS2 players can buy in Battle-Scarred, costing around $35. It stays pretty affordable in Factory New, too, setting you back around $75. It’s not exactly cheap, but the game has changed in a post-CS2 knife tradeup world.

Of all the cheapest Covert CS2 skins, the AK-47 Legion of Anubis is one of the very best to buy for knife tradeups. This is because it’s part of the Fracture Collection, putting four potential knives into contention for your drop: the Nomad Knife, Paracord Knife, Skeleton Knife, and Survival Knife. It’s very versatile for tradeups if you’re looking for one of these CS2 knives, and it remains not too expensive at $35 in Battle-Scarred. It’s $75 price tag in Factory New is also appealing compared to most red CS2 skins.

The Desert Eagle Printstream is also a solid option from the Fracture Collection, giving the same possible knife tradeups as the AK Legion of Anubis. The only caveat is that the Deagle Printstream is slightly more expensive, floating between $40 and $85 at the lowest and highest CS2 wear ratings.
