The signs were there: CS2 events in 2025 aren’t slowing down. We just wrapped up another Vitality win at ESL Pro League Season 21, and BLAST Open Lisbon 2025 is already knocking at the door. And it brings with itself a good news for FaZe fans, as the team is finally back in action after what feels like an eternity away from the server.

This tournament is stacked. Every top-tier team is in attendance, and several squads are already picking up serious momentum. That makes BLAST Open Lisbon not just another event but one that arguably carries more weight and anticipation than ESL Pro League or even PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025. Vitality are obviously in red hot form, far ahead of any other team. Yet the last teams to go toe to toe against them were FaZe and Eternal Fire – both in attendance.
With all that said, let us took at all the teams that will fight against each other, and their power rankings.

Vitality is the outright favorite
It cannot be overstated – Vitality is the best team in the world right now, plain and simple. They are an unstoppable freight train, but I’ll spell it out anyway. Since acquiring ropz, they’ve only dropped a single series, to Eternal Fire, and have bulldozed through the best teams without breaking a sweat. Even in their two recent Bo5 Grand Finals, they closed both out in straight 3-0 wins.

In the last three months, they boast a 92.9% win rate and an 11-series win streak. Try making a case against them as favorites here, go on, I dare you. Eternal Fire and MOUZ are miles behind, and expecting Falcons to shake things up feels like wishful thinking. Spirit might have something to say, and if I were feeling bold, I’d say FaZe could pull a rabbit out of the hat. But when all is said and done, the truth that prevails is that Vitality aren’t far away from a Grand Slam and BLAST Open Lisbon may help them get there.
donk Must Be Furious
Spirit kicked off the year on the right foot, conquering the BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals, and for a moment, I thought this might be them extending their era post claiming Major title. But since then, they’ve looked anything but invincible. A runner-up finish at IEM Katowice, falling to the Vitality superteam, and then an exit at EPL against MOUZ. things haven’t exactly gone according to plan.

If I’m donk, a guy who made winning a Major look as casual as a stroll in the park, hands in pockets, not a care in the world, this slump must be eating me alive. It’s not even that he’s been off his game, averaging a ridiculous 1.45 rating at both events. But if there’s anything that can light a fire under him, it’s these recent stumbles. Here at BLAST Open Lisbon, we’ll see if that frustration translates into a storming comeback.
FaZe have the best chance to work their magic
This FaZe roster has been one of the most fun to follow, mainly because they are the hardest to pin down. At their ceiling they’ve been knocking on the door of greatness, even almost taking down Vitality, who are in world-beater form right now. But their lows? Well, their rock bottom has seen them dropping matches to Astralis and MOUZ. But that was the story before their much-needed breather they earned by skipping ESL Pro League.

If I were a betting man, I’d say their form at BLAST Lisbon against the likes of Spirit and Vitality will be the moment of truth. Either they cement themselves in the top three or get left in the dust. Now, if I’m karrigan, for the first time in a while, I’m playing without a monkey on my back, free to focus on getting my riflers firing on all cylinders. He is the one who deserved this break the most, and a fresh mind means sharper calls, better mid-round adjustments, more decorative executes, bolder ideas and a game plan that doesn’t feel held together with duct tape.
Falcons are too reliant on NiKo’s heroics

Another team that is hard to evaluate is Falcons. The team simply has too many inconsistent pieces at the moment. Probably the most momentum-driven squad in the scene, they can go toe-to-toe with anyone on their best day—but those days are few and far between. At ESL Pro League, Falcons went up against Liquid, MOUZ, 3DMAX, Eternal Fire, and FURIA, yet this is how their individual performances looked like :
- NiKo : 1.08
- Magisk : 0.94
- degster : 0.91
- kyxsan : 0.87
- TeSeS : 0.87
It’s clear as day that NiKo can’t carry the weight alone, he needs a second pillar of stability. Whether that comes from degster or Magisk, someone has to step up and take some of the load off his shoulders.
Litmus test for MOUZ’s honeymoon phase

The decision to swap siuhy for more firepower was a roll of the dice, but so far, MOUZ has been raking in the wins. Spinx shined in their winning campaign at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 with a solid 1.13 rating, and his impact was undeniable in securing second place at ESL Pro League. Now, BLAST Lisbon will be their real litmus test. Was this just a honeymoon phase singing songs for them, or is there real depth behind their success? Time to separate the wheat from the chaff.
The story doesn’t end with these teams
As I mentioned earlier, this event is stacked. It’s not like PGL Cluj-Napoca, where several tier-one teams were absent, or EPL, which dragged on with an exhausting format, and didn’t even have FaZe. While the top teams are clearly leading the charge, let’s not overlook MongolZ, Eternal Fire, and NAVI, as none of them are easy prey. With so much firepower on display, we’re in for some absolute barnburners. One thing’s for certain; there won’t be a single dull match.
