9z are your Thunderpick WC 2025 South America Series 2 champions, locking in a spot in the upcoming Closed Qualifiers by defeating ODDIK in a competitive 2:0 series. The result means just one spot in the Thunderpick WC 2025 CQ remains, and will be decided in the upcoming North America Series 2.

9z take down ODDIK, but was it a last dance?
From the off, this had all the makings of a competitive series. Both ODDIK and 9z were tested in their Semi-Finals against Fluxo and RED Canids respectively, meaning neither came into this Thunderpick WC 2025 South America Series 2 Final looking untouchable. The first match was a banger, living up to the promise in a 22:20 marathon on Ancient. 9z emerged victorious, and the exhaustion from that first map clearly took its toll going into Nuke. There, 9z really started to run away with things, and it looked like it was going to be a quick ending to the series. ODDIK showed some life, though, battling back a 9:3 half before eventually losing 13:9. A valiant effort, in the end.

So, 9z are the winners, and they have that Closed Qualifier spot and are in with a chance of making it to the main Thunderpick WC 2025 LAN in Malta. Great. However, there’s a tinge of sadness to go with this qualification, as it may actually prove to be a last dance for 9z. Rumors suggest that AWPer MartinezSa will be joining up with the Iberian Soul core as part of Gentle Mates’ first-ever CS2 roster. It’s sad that we seemingly won’t get to see this lineup make the full run through the Closed Qualifier, but at least it would make for a happy ending if this truly is the end.
9z now join Imperial and Legacy in reaching the CQ of the Thunderpick WC 2025. After the North America Series 2 concludes at the start of August, the remaining 12 teams will be invited via the VRS.
