The only country-specific league on the VALORANT Champions Tour, VCT China Stage 2 will see 12 sides battle it out for regional superiority and qualifications to VALORANT Champions.

VCT China Stage 2

VCT China Stage 2 Format

Like all other VCT leagues, VCT China will begin with a group stage, whereby its 12 teams will be split into two groups of six. Both groups will complete a best-of-three single round-robin, after which the top four of each will move on to the playoffs and the bottom two will be eliminated.

The eight playoff teams will start at different stages of the bracket depending on their respective group stage placings. Top seeds will start in the upper bracket and will receive a bye to the second round. Second and third seeds also start in the upper bracket, facing each other in the first round. Fourth seeds will begin in the lower bracket, where a loss will lead to immediate elimination.

Knockout matches will all be decided through best-of-three series, aside the lower bracket final and grand final, which will both be best-of-five.

VCT China Teams

VCT China Stage 2 will feature some of the most recognisable names in esports, such as Bilibili Gaming, JD Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, and EDward Gaming. The latter are the current world champs, having won VALORANT Champions at the end of last season.

The league also interestingly features Wolves Esports, an esports sister team of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club — a football team on the other side of the globe in the West Midlands of England.

VCT China Stage 2 Teams to Watch

Despite not currently being the title holders, EDG are still the team to watch in VCT China. After success at Champs last year, they started 2025 off perfectly by winning Kickoff. However, their Stage 1 was underwhelming, finishing in fourth place and seeing the mid-tournament departure of S1mon lead to a public falling out between him and his former teammates.

The team that did win Stage 1 was XLG Esports, an Ascension side who had little hopes of making a title run before going ahead and winning the whole thing. They beat runners-up Bilibili Gaming in the grand final, a more established team in the league, who will fancy their chances of going one further in Stage 2.

How to watch VCT China Stage 2
