Today is the grand finals of VALORANT Masters Bangkok and before T1 and G2 took to the stage, RIOT showed off the new Thai duelist for VALORANT Waylay and she looks NUTTY.

New VALORANT Agent Waylay Looks Incredible

During the Masters Bangkok finals pre show, we were treated to a showmatch to introduce her, as Team Thailand faced off against a team of international creators including the likes of CGRS and TenZ respectively. The new trailer fully showcased some of these abilities in lore.

It hasn’t been too long since Tejo was released into the pool and now the new light themed duelist is built for speed. Some pro VALORANT duelists had specifically been asking for another movement focused Agent to be added to the roster as the main 2, Raze and Jett, were taking up most of the playtime. With a move set that wouldn’t be unfamiliar to fan’s of Blizzard’s ability based shooter.

VALORANT Waylay Abilities

Q – Light Speed

To start off your ability to get onto site, her Q is a set of 2 dashes at a fixed distance. The first one can be used upward to get a diagonal dash forward, allowing you to get as much height as a Jett updraft. The second will always be horizontal.

As they’re fixed linear dashes in the direction you’re looking, the flexibility comes down to how fast you can change your direction. Unlike raze, who can move as a curve, the counter play will come from understanding the dash distance and snapping to her end point.

E – Refract

Partnering with her maneuverability, her Refract (E) is her get out of jail ability. While you can’t be tagged by damage while refracting, you are especially in danger as you come out of the recall. We saw it get punished several times in the show match where players could pre-aim the jump location.

When first pressed, you will start channelling, much like a Jett dash. On the second use you start the jump back to where you started the ability from. The channel duration is up to 8 seconds.

Hindered

The last of her regular abilities might not be as flashy but the new ability Hindered is a new form of slow/concuss. Signified by a light bubble over their head, hindered slows all actions from gun pull out to movement speed to firing back. Unlike concussion, there’s not any reticle displacement. So if you hit your first shot, you’re not struggling with altered spray control.

New VALORANT Agent Ultimate

The ultimate takes that same philosophy in a line of site tunnel, similar to Iso’s ultimate, taking a line and applying Hindered to any enemies caught in it. Hindered will speed up slightly back to regular speed but the initial slow is brutal. Remember that teammates can also be caught in the ultimate at the time of writing, so as much as she can play off of her own utility, team play is going to really take her to the top.
