After teasing us for weeks and weeks about a brand new agent hitting the game, Riot has dropped the VALORANT Tejo official release trailer. Tejo is the latest agent to take on the Initiator role so here’s everything we know so far.
VALORANT’s Agent 27, Tejo was hinted at with the end of VALORANT’s INITIATE.V25 2025 season kickoff trailer and has finally had his official trailer hit the site. The Colombian Initiator is a different approach compared to some of his contemporaries. Dedicated to recon, the game’s 7th Initiator has a couple of abilities that will seem all too familiar to Controller players; gaining information and setting up for tight executes. In order of appearance in the trailer:
Using similar targeting to Brimstone, you’ll get to set 2 locations for your Smokes to land. When fired, these smokes go direct from Tejo, making sharp turns round corners on route. Since these come direct from Tejo, they in theory can be traced back to him, rather than dropping from the sky like Brim. However, if Tejo’s not long behind them, its not something to worry about. These smokes do not appear to collide with geometry and will explode on arrival.
The Recon Drone acts as a grounded version of what we’ve seen from fellow Initiator Sova. What it lacks in Vertical control, it makes up for in reduced visibility in motion. After sending it out, you take vision of the Drone, controlling its movement. By firing, you can reveal enemies and supress anyone caught by the drone’s pulse. Marking them through walls for fellow Agents.
A multifunctional sticky grenade. With its Alt fire, you can bank this concussion grenade off one wall, after which it’ll explode when it touches the next surface, stunning anyone in range. For a more direct approach, its main fire will have it explode on first contact, giving you the freedom to play both reactively and for the setups that this Agent is fully set up to get moving.
For coordinated attack delivering huge damage. You’ll need to equip a tactical strike targeting map and select where you want the strike to land. Then launch your attack, which will send multiple explosions along the path and deal huge damage. If coordinated well, you could really get some good hits in with this one.
While we’re all chomping at the bit, there’s still a couple of days until Tejo will be released. It seems we can expect him to drop in line with the brand new VALORANT season, which begins on January 8th 2025.
Tejo will be the 7th Initiator to join the VALORANT ranks alongside Breach, Fade, Gekko, KAY/O, Skye and Sova.
As the name suggests, the role of the Initiator is to seek out enemies, disrupt their formation and begin the attack. Tejo’s skillset seems pretty perfect for zoning and forcing opponent’s out of position. This will give the others on his team the perfect opportunity to pick them off round after round. Unfortunately though, we’ll need to wait a bit longer to see Tejo take to the mainstage and he’ll miss out on the VCT Kick Off events this month ahead of VCT Masters Bangkok.
Tejo is the most recent addition to the game after Vyse was released back in August 2024 and is the first Initiator to be added since Gekko alllll the way back in March 2023. It’s about time this role got a shake up and we’ll have to wait and see what comes from him in the game.
