DRX VALORANT has announced the retirement of star player Cho “Flashback” Minhyeok and the signing of Anh “Hermes” Byeong-wook ahead of the 2026 VCT season.
Following the conclusion of the 2025 VCT OFF//SEASON, the Korean organization revealed that Flashback has decided to step away from competitive VALORANT to focus on his personal life. The announcement comes as DRX prepares for another championship run in the upcoming season.
According to the official statement released today, DRX explained that Flashback approached management to discuss his future and formally requested contract termination to retire from competitive play.
“Following the conclusion of the 2025 VCT OFF//SEASON, Flashback approached our management to discuss his future and formally requested his contract to be terminated in order to retire and re-center his life away from competitive VALORANT,” the organization stated.
The team emphasized their support for the player’s decision after extensive discussions. “After numerous deliberations involving our coaching staff, management, and players, all parties have ultimately agreed to support Flashback’s decision,” DRX continued.
DRX expressed gratitude for Flashback’s contributions during his tenure with the team. “While his departure is sudden, we respect Flashback on his transparency regarding the key reasons surrounding his difficult decision. At this time, all involved believe it is in Flashback’s best interest—as an individual, not just a player—for us to support him through this transition.” The organization concluded their farewell message by thanking the duelist for his time with the roster.
“DRX would like to thank Flashback for the passion and dedication he demonstrated under our banner. Please join us in wishing Flashback the very best of luck in his retirement as he formally departs VALORANT esports.”

To fill the void left by Flashback’s retirement, DRX has moved quickly to secure a replacement, signing Anh “Hermes” Byeong-wook to the active roster. The 18-year-old duelist most recently competed with FearX, where he showcased his mechanical prowess and playmaking ability. In Korea’s Road to Ascension event, FearX placed second, right behind future Ascension Pacific winners SLT Seongnam (now VARREL).
Hermes brings fresh talent to a DRX squad looking to maintain their position as one of the premier teams in the Pacific region. His aggressive playstyle and strong performances in the Korean scene made him an attractive prospect for the organization as they rebuild their roster. The signing represents DRX’s commitment to developing young Korean talent while remaining competitive at the highest level. Hermes will now have the opportunity to prove himself on the international stage alongside established veterans on the DRX roster.

Despite the sudden roster change, DRX remains focused on their championship aspirations. “We understand this update comes abruptly for our fans. However, DRX remains steadfast in our commitment to compete as a championship-calibre team, and we are preparing tirelessly for the upcoming VCT 2026 season,” the organization stated.
The Korean powerhouse will look to integrate Hermes into their system as they prepare for the 2026 season, hoping the young talent can help fill the considerable shoes left by Flashback’s departure. As one chapter closes for DRX, another begins with the arrival of Hermes and the team’s continued pursuit of an international trophy.
