In news that might seem like it’s 10 years out of date, Rainbow Six Siege X achievements are finally on Steam. Announced in a low-key Steam news update post by Ubisoft, just a few lines after a decade since the game’s release, Steam achievements finally see the game match its console counterparts. “We are pleased to announce that Steam Achievements are now available for Rainbow Six Siege!”
Thankfully, these achievements will be retroactively earned for any accomplishments you’ve already completed. Just launch the game once, and you’ll get all those achievements right away. Oh, and if you have the game on Ubisoft Connect, those will sync up nicely as well.
We’re not sure why they’ve been added now, before a major patch, with no fanfare, but we’re glad to see the Steam version of Rainbow Six Siege get some love.
The real reason is likely because Ubisoft mostly abandoned Steam a few years ago to focus on Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Game Store. With very few exceptions, most developers come back to Steam eventually, with its active userbase impossible to ignore. As a result, Ubisoft has slowly been adding missing features to its older titles, and it looks like Siege is the latest one to get some love.
Though with the game’s 10-year celebration due to kick off in the next week, it is maybe a fitting time to add it, especially as Ubisoft will be hoping the update brings in a wave of new and returning players ahead of what could be a defining year for Rainbow Six Siege X.
In fact, it’s fairly normal for it to take this long. Rainbow Six Siege is even faster than many, with many of the older Assassin’s Creed titles and Far Cry taking over 13 years to get them. Even the fairly new Valhalla took over two years to get them.
But now Rainbow Six Siege X has Steam achievements, and everything is right with the world once again. It might have taken over a decade, but at least the wait is finally over. However, we suspect most people had no idea achievements were not already in the game on Steam.
And stay up to date on all the latest trends in esports
