The second half of MPL PH S15 has started and each team gets to face against each other one more time before playoffs. Unfortunately for Twisted Minds, they started their second half with a devastating loss against the current top seed of the season, Aurora Gaming, making their record now as 1-7. Can they still make it to playoffs? The answer is yes and here’s what they need to do.
Twisted Minds’ Chances for playoffs
Despite the loss yesterday against Aurora Gaming, Twisted Minds can still secure a spot in the playoffs. Coincidentally, this was the same spot most of the team’s rosters were back in MPL PH Season 14. They were in the same exact spot having a record of 1-7 in the first half of the season and they managed to upset a lot of top teams as well as win against their equals to secure their playoffs spot, surprising many. Blacklist International back in Season 14 was treated as the “mighty have fallen” as they were considered to be in the top teams but plummeted down potentially excluded in the playoffs. Three players, namely Hadjizy, MP The King, and Outplayed, also their Coach Bon Chan, were part of that team, who is now in Twisted Minds, so the situation is already indifferent to them.
Coach’s hopes are high
During the post game press conference, when Coach Bon Chan was asked if they can replicate their run in the previous season, here’s what he had to say:
“There’s a high chance we can replicate our previous run before. As long as the bottom three teams are still tied in points together, it’s not a low probability to still enter playoffs. Eventually like last season, we will upset a lot of teams again in the playoffs. So for me it’s still a 50-50 chance to enter. I can even say it’s more than 50 percent chance.” (“Mataas naman yung chance mareplicate ulet naming yung run namin. As long as magpantay pantay yung points namin tatlo, hindi ganon kababa yung chance na makapasok kami sa playoffs. And eventually sa playoffs manglason. Para sakin 50-50 chance pa rin. Pwede nga more than 50% chance.”)
Twisted Minds will face another powerhouse in the name of Team Liquid PH, the current second seed of the league, tomorrow March 30, 7:30 PM GMT+8. Last season, they defeated Falcons AP.Bren, another strong team, during their road to comeback so it’s not impossible for them to do it again. As long as their fans, The Minds, are still willing to cheer them on, they can still enter the playoffs of MPL PH S15.
