After European esports giant Natus Vincere (NAVI) obtained a slot in the MPL ID S15, they followed it up by acquiring two more Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) rosters, but this time, in the women’s esports scene.
NAVI has picked up two all-female rosters which are Smart Omega Empress from the Philippines and Arcane Esports from Malaysia. Both rosters competed last year in the MLBB Women’s Invitational 2024 where most of the Arcane Esports (Gaimin Gladiators Homegirls) roster won until Top 5-8, being eliminated by Smart Omega Empress, who ultimately won the entire thing. Acquiring these two teams would only signal that NAVI is going in Esports World Cup 2025 to try and win the entire thing by entering in multiple game titles.
This is wonderful news for MLBB, especially in the women’s league as more and more teams are investing in them. First it was Team Falcons coming in to compete in the women’s league last year, then next was Team Vitality the same year as well. More and more well-known teams are now investing in MLBB, as they acknowledge its esports scene now on a global scale.
If NAVI acquired these two rosters last year, they’re definitely gunning for the club championship points for the overall champion among esports organizations in the world. Last year, former Gaimin Gladiators Homegirls won 80 EWC club points for placing 5-8th while Smart Omega Empress won 1000 EWC club points.
Both esports organizations didn’t care that much about the EWC club championship as they didn’t bother to enter various esports titles and compete for more rewards such as more prize money to fight for but most importantly, being invited to the Club Program where the top 8 of last year will be directly invited the following year.
Both teams are now rebranded as Natus Vincere PH and Natus Vincere MY after the acquisition. NAVI MY has already secured their spot in the upcoming MLBB Women’s Invitational 2025 in EWC while NAVI PH is poised as favorites in their local qualifiers for EWC, which gave the Philippines 2 slots in the tournament. The local tournament of PH will be happening next week to determine their representatives for EWC 2025.
