As the Regular Season of MPL Philippines Season 16 (MPL PH S16) unfolds in its 3rd week, a lot of the fans are in shock and awe as we are met with unexpected results from the league. Let’s take a look at the current standings for MPL PH S16.
During the regular season, teams battle in a double round-robin, best-of-three format where one match win equals one point. Through the early stages, several teams have distinguished themselves with consistent performances, be they good or bad. The most surprising ones are Twisted Minds, given that most of their roster are rookies, performing really well, and are up in the standings. On the other hand, one of the supposed tournament favorites, Team Falcons, are really struggling to find their footing, being currently last in the standings. There’s still another week in MPL PH S16 to bounce back, however, so anything can still happen.

The league started with Smart Omega defeating TNC Pro Team 2–1, claiming an early edge in the tournament. On the other hand, Team Falcons scored a 2–0 upset over Aurora Gaming, marking a strong start for both teams on day 1.
The next day was definitely full of upsets, starting with AP.Bren edging out Smart Omega 2–1 to offset their win yesterday. Twisted Minds PH surprised everybody with their debut match against Team Falcons with a score of 2–0 despite being full of rookies against former world champions. The highlight match of the week was ONIC Philippines dominating Team Liquid PH 2–0, showcasing their resolve for revenge after being denied a repeat title in last season’s Grand Finals.
On the last day of week 1, Twisted Minds narrowly beat AP.Bren 2–1, putting them up in the standings, while Team Liquid PH got their first win over TNC Pro Team with a 2–0 score.
By the end of Week 1, fans were more excited to watch, as this season of MLBB esports might be the most unpredictable season ever. Twisted Minds is on top of the standings, while all of the favorites faced an early loss in the tournament.

During the 2nd week, ONIC PH showcased on day 1 why they are the current world champions as they shut out AP.Bren 2–0, underlining their growing momentum towards qualifying for M7. Aurora Gaming bounced back from their week 1 performance by defeating Team Liquid PH 2–1.
On Day 2, Team Falcons still faced misfortune as they were defeated by TNC Pro Team 2–0. Twisted Minds were still on top of their game, beating Omega 2–1, while Aurora Gaming continued with their momentum to end ONIC PH with a score of 2–1.
Day 3 of week 2 concluded with Smart Omega sweeping Team Falcons 2–0, while Team Liquid PH prevailed over Twisted Minds 2–0 to stop their domination in its tracks.
Week 2 was much more unpredictable, as the standings were more mixed up from last week’s results, having no clear leaders in the tournament.
Within week 3, Aurora Gaming, despite their slow start, continued their momentum by defeating Twisted Minds 2–1. On the other hand, ONIC PH continued Team Falcons’ losing streak with a score of 2–0 in favor of them.
On Saturday, TNC Pro Team beat AP.Bren 2–0, while Team Liquid PH stomped Smart Omega 2–0. What was surprising was when Twisted Minds overcame ONIC PH 2–1, knocking down strong teams one after another.
The last day of week 3 had AP.Bren put a nail in the coffin of Team Falcons with a 2–1 victory. Aurora Gaming continued to be the top team of the first half with their victory of 2-0 against TNC Pro Team.

In the standings, it’s becoming more apparent who the teams to watch out for are as we’re coming to the end of the first half. Again, anything can still happen, as most of the teams have proven to be strong in their own rights.
