Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid PH secures spots for MPL PH Playoffs

In MPL PH Season 15, both Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid PH are already guaranteed spots for MPL PH playoffs. As early as week 5, both teams are now in the position of cementing their lead, leading to the top 2 spots of regular season to automatically enter the double elimination round of playoffs.

Early playoffs for 2 teams

Starting the second half of MPL PH S15, both Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid PH has 2 matches scheduled for Week 5. Aurora Gaming won their first match against Twisted Minds to continue their win streak but ONIC Philippines handed them their first loss the next day.

Team Liquid PH on the other hand won both of their matches against Team Falcons and Twisted Minds. After week 5’s conclusion, Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid PH are tied up in the current standings of MPL PH S15. Both teams now have a standing of 8-1 in the league, making them closer to achieving a bye on the first round of MPL PH playoffs.

Aurora Gaming’s mindset after the loss

During the post game press conference, when Renejay was asked if they think they relaxed a bit during their match against ONIC Philippines since they secured a spot in playoffs, here’s what he had to say:

No. We never got relaxed at all since for me personally, my mindset is: We’re already here on top, we’re already number 1, why would I relax? So to speak, we’re already here on top so I need to excel more than what I can do now. (“Hindi po. Never po kami naging relaxed kase ako po personally mindset ko, nandito na kami sa taas, kami na yung nasa number 1, bakit pa ko magrerelax, kumbaga nandito na ko kailangan mas galingan ko pa.”)

Now we only have 4 spots left before we head to the MPL PH playoffs for the last 6 teams in the league. After determining the 6 teams bound for playoffs, we will then see the teams compete for the top 2 spots in the league. The playoffs top 2 teams would eventually go to the international stage of MSC x EWC 2025 in Riyadh. 

MPL PH S15 will continue next week on April 4-6, 2025 with a few banger matches, including ONIC Philippines vs Team Falcons as the first game when the week comes. Let’s see if Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid PH can still maintain their positions as the top teams going to the MPL PH playoffs.
