Only one spot remains in the League of Legends Worlds 2024 Grand Finals. After Bilibili Gaming’s sweep of Weibo Gaming in the first Semifinal, the LPL first seed awaits either T1 or Gen.G. This LCK el classico is getting its most important iteration in the second highest stakes game of the year.
At the forefront of these teams are the mid laners. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok needs no introduction, he’s the GOAT, who has already made six Worlds finals and won four – perhaps this is the time he’ll land his 5th Worlds title this year.
On the other side, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon has been a frontrunner for the most mechanically gifted player in the world for most of his career. He has a bevy of LCK titles, but has never made a Worlds final.

T1’s bot lane of Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok has been the best of the tournament. Guma and Keria are both the KDA leaders of their roles. Gen.G’s ADC Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan hasn’t been too shabby himself, but Gumayusi has just been on a different level. That said, Gumayusi does have the notable holes of Kai’Sa and Ezreal in his champion pool, both of which Peyz plays very well.
In the support role, however, is likely where T1’s biggest advantage lies. Keria’s game sense and versatility allows T1 to play a number of styles with ease. His Rakan is likely the best in the world as shown in their match against TES. He can also pull out things like Bard or Pyke and play for roam and pick. And of course, we know from last Worlds that he can play ranged and poke “supports.”
Again, Gen.G’s support Son “Lehends” Si-woo isn’t to be disrespected, but he is prone to having the occasional feeding spree. He will likely be stuck on Leona for most of the games, but Lehends absolutely can throw down some unorthodox champion picks if given the chance.

Lastly, we have the top laners and junglers. In the top lane, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je and Kim “Kiin” Gi-in are the two most skilled players in the role Korea has to offer. They’re both insanely versatile players who can do tank duty just fine, but also both love their carry champions. Jax and Rumble will be key picks for both players, while the other may be forced to counter with K’Sante or Gnar.
While both Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu are above the rest of the Worlds 2024 junglers in terms of KDA and impact, Canyon has been in peak form. His Nidalee is one of the main reasons Gen.G managed to overcome FlyQuest and can throw a huge wrench into any draft. If you want to see the best pathing this game has to offer, watch Canyon vs. Oner closely today.
No matter who comes out on top, everyone is hoping for a five game banger series. The last time these teams met in the LCK Summer Playoffs, we got just that.
Gen.G has won the last 10 meetings in a row between these two squads. On paper, that would make them the overwhelming favorites. But there’s just something about T1 at Worlds that makes you never count them out. If we’re lucky, this could be one of the best series League of Legends has ever seen.
