This is what we’ve all been waiting for. After 5 weeks of competition, the grand finals of the League of Legends Worlds 2024 is has descended upon the O2 Arena in London, UK. The opening ceremony is legendary and worth tuning in early for and this year’s was no different.

Heavy is the Crown
If there’s one thing LoL Esports can do, it’s bring a hyped up Worlds opening ceremony but this was something else. We were treated warm up acts from Ashnikko, Mars Atlas of Forts and Tiffany Arris, all with spine tingling visuals and music.
The final performance of the Worlds 2024 opening ceremony was of this year’s anthem Heavy is the Crown by Linkin Park.
This performance from Linkin Park, including their new vocalist Emily Armstrong, was something else. A huge performance with fire, flames and the introduction of grand finalists BLG and T1 to the stage.
Team Cinematics

What stood out to me in the player and team cinematics is just how much emotion there is behind this event. Winning Worlds means so much to these teams and players, even those who have won multiple times before.
With everything on the line, this is a finals for the history books. Now that we’re getting into the best of 5, all that is left is to see who can win and lift the trophy.
Dota Fan Watching Worlds
This is by no means my first time watching Worlds but as a die hard Dota 2 fan, I’ve always been defensive of The International vs. Worlds. There are some things that I’ll happily admit are better in LoL than they are in Dota. The TV series Arcane makes Dota 2: Dragon’s Blood look cheap and dull. But that was about the extent of it for me.
However, having attended this year’s International and not even getting to see the orchestra, I now have to admit that the Worlds 2024 opening ceremony was just insane. It’s kind of rare to find this kind of hype in esports and LoL esports absolutely nailed it.
