After the series against Gen.G, we briefly spoke with TES JackeyLove as he went over the series, the team’s approach heading into the match, and why he wants a strong opponent for their qualification series in the last Swiss stage round.

Davide: First of all, it’s unfortunate that you weren’t able to take the win.

How are you doing? what was the preparation like coming into the series?

JackeyLove: Yeah, I’m disappointed because we lost this matchup. Speaking of the preparation into this game, we have actually prepared long for this matchup. We were watching all their game VODs and try to research their playstyle, but you know, we still lost.

Davide: It was quite clear that the draft preparation was well done. Top Esports has always been quite an aggressive team, always looking to push leads and be extremely aggressive with their gameplay.

Do you think that this aggression kind of becomes a double edged sword for you guys?

JackeyLove: I feel like this really depends on the team’s playstyle. Looking back on ourselves from the start of year until now, I feel like the aggressive playstyle suits us better. For example against Gen.G today, if we both picked scaling team comps, it would not be easy for us to be take a win, so we thought that if we could play well the early game skirmishes and manage the funneling, it probably would’ve been better for us.

How it was to play against Ruler since you haven’t played against him in two years. Did anything stand out from his playstyle today?

JackeyLove: I feel like Ruler has always been a really great player. I feel like that Gen.G’s bot lane and bot-jungle synergy is the one thing they are strong on. He was especially solid during the teamfights in the series. Overall, he’s a great player.

Davide: You’re 2-2 [in the swiss stage].

Who would you like to face next among the teams that are still remaining?

JackeyLove: Honestly, I would prefer to go against a strong opponent because I feel like we are struggling a little bit in terms of our current form and playstyle. So if we play against a weaker team and make it to the top eight, I think the end result wouldn’t be that good anyway. I prefer to play against a a stronger opponent because if we can beat them and make quarters [that way], I think it can give us more confidence.

Davide: It’s been seven years since you were a champion. After such a long time,

What would you tell yourself to the 18-year-old JackeyLove who was lifting the trophy at the time?

JackeyLove: I think the first year was quite smooth for me since I got to the championship trophy. The thing with League of Legends, you basically restart each year, so every season is a bit different. I feel like I made the correct choice back then.

Is there any player that stood out at Worlds aside from Ruler?

JackeyLove: Actually I feel like so far all of the ADC players here at stronger opponent are really good. There is no one specifically I really want to face off: I think the most important thing is to try focus on adjusting our form.

Davide: We know that the team has been quite good domestically throughout the season.

Why do you think you guys have had more issues at the international events?

JackeyLove: I still feel it’s about the team’s overall form. For example, when we drop games, we are not able to quickly re-adjust ourselves, and, you know, we haven’t been able to find a good solution so far.

One last message to the fans?

JackeyLove: Thank you so much for your support. There is one more series. We are gong back and we will be looking to adjust our form so we can take the last series.

Davide: Thank you a lot JackeyLove and good luck.
