With the Fnatic LoL team rumored to make only one change during the break, what can we expect from one of the OGs in the European scene? This is what could happen with the new lineup.
The last few weeks have been rather turbulent for the Fnatic LoL team. After finishing in fourth place in Spring, the organization has been trying to make a few roster changes and is set to replace Marek “Humanoid” Brázda with Yun “Poby” Sung-won, formerly of T1 Esports Academy.
According to a report by Sheep Esports, however, Fnatic has also explored options in the top lane and considered swapping out Óscar “Oscarinin” Muñoz. Among the top laners available, Fnatic was considering a few names, including ERL players such as Karmine Corp Blue player Volodymyr “Maynter” Sorokin, Misa Esports’ Baek “Mihile” Sang-hwi, and Korean import Shin “Rooster” Yun-hwan.
In the end, though, Fnatic’s ultimate decision was to bring back Danish top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen, who previously played for the team in 2022 and 2023. Fnatic, who reportedly offered the player to become the sixth man on the roster and potentially share stage time with Oscarinin, was rejected, leaving the team with no choice but to maintain with the Spanish players up in the top lane. Therefore, the mid lane will be the only roster move for Fnatic heading into Summer.

From the outside, the Humanoid-Poby change doesn’t look that convincing. Not only because of Humanoid’s legacy as a player in the LEC, but also due to the unknown quantity that is Poby.
The Korean player has been doing decently in the LCK CL, but he wasn’t an outstanding mid laner. That said, things can always change over time and sometimes unexpected changes can lead to unthinkable outcomes. What Fnatic lacked the most in Spring was coordination between the players, often leading to disjointed positioning and poor decision-making.
If Poby can stabilize the mid lane and be a player who is willing to play for the other lanes, Fnatic might have much better results, despite the loss of Humanoid. On the other hand, however, that is quite a risky move, and it could be lethal for the rest of the lineup, which was put together with the goal of fighting for the domestic title and international success.
