Despite starting strongly – being the only unbeaten team after the first week – GIANTX slowed down the pace in Week 2, losing two of their three games (now 4-2). After the final defeat of the week against G2, Noah spoke about his ambitions with his new team, his off-season, his past problems on big stages, and his thoughts on the LEC ADCs.

Ethan: Sorry for the most recent loss.

How are you feeling after these two first weeks in the LEC, both individually and as a team?

Noah: I think before today we played well. But today, I don’t know. I think Jun (Yoon Se-jun) and I trolled so hard. We didn’t think about Zyrah tempo or like, we just played so badly. I don’t know why, but it’s against G2. So we need to improve again. Next week, we will be better.

Ethan: But still, G2 doesn’t look as good as when you faced them last year with Fnatic.

Do you feel like they just didn’t show their true potential?

Noah: From scrims we also thought G2 is not as strong as last year.

But still, I think today, me and Jun mostly trolled, that’s why we lost. We need to do better.

Ethan: You only lost twice for now. Once against your former team Fnatic and once against your former biggest enemy G2.

Do you think you’ll finally be able to take revenge on them in Bo3?

Noah: I hope, I mean I lost to G2 so many times and lost again. So I really want to win. But still we have problems. I mean in the botside. So we should try hard more to win, I guess.

Ethan: Talk me through your off season a bit.

Why did you leave Fnatic, is there any specific reason? And also did you expect Jun to join GIANTX with you?

Noah: I gave the reasons on my twitter. It’s because I played with the same top, mid, jungle for two years already. And we are so close to each other as a person.

So I think if I wanted to improve, I had to meet new person and find a new environment, with new position. That’s why I left.

So then I can more improve. And I think the process is going well. When I left Fnatic I didn’t expect Jun to come but during the off-season there were like many things happening. At some point Jun came.

Ethan: And did you like spoke to him before or anything? Or you really didn’t expect him to join at all?

Noah: I mean I already joined GX and maybe one weeks or like more after I heard Jun was leaving. And Jun asked me something and yeah, we talked during the offseason.

What are your goals for this season with GIANTX? Do you think you can win a title?

Noah: I think the team goal is a title and as a player, my goal is to improve. Like develop myself, improve on my weaknesses and beat G2, as always.

Ethan: We know you kind of struggled last year during the MSI. You did much better at Worlds though.

If you manage to qualify to an international event, do you think you’ll be able to surpass your demons and show the best version of yourself?

Noah: I think after last year’s summer, for Season Finals and Worlds, I think I played good because I fixed my problem on big stages.

So if I go international again, I think I will show my best. If we lose against other, teams, then it means they are better than us, that’s it.

I think I can show my best.

Ethan: I know you always love to interact with other AD carries.

Which players are in your top five best ADCs in the league right now?

Noah: I think Caliste (Caliste Henry-hennebert), Supa (David Garcia), Upset (Elias Lipp), me and Hans Sama (Steven Liv): five.

Ethan: Ice (Yoon Sang-hoon) is not in your top five? You don’t think he is as strong as last year?

Noah: I don’t think so.

Ethan: And so you said Caliste. I wanted to know what do you think about him? Because he had a lot of pressure before coming in. I know you already knew him before he joined LEC and you did beat him also for his first game against you.

Did you expect him to be as good as he is right now from the start of the season?

Noah: Yeah, I knew it. Like I knew him before he joined KC when I came in EU. I knew he will come to the LEC at some point and I knew he will play good because he has like a really, really big talent. So I expected that to happen.

Rapid Fire Questions:

  • Laning or Teamfighting? Teamfighting.
  • Ezreal or Aphelios? Ezreal.
  • Ruler or Viper? Ruler.
  • Elk or Jackeylove? Elk.
  • KOI or KC? I think KOI because I have more friends there.
  • Win the LEC or the LCK? The LEC because I am here.
  • Win the final against G2 or against Fnatic? I think G2.

Be warned, his articles can sometimes ooze a little too much of his lack of objectivity towards the French scene and players…
