Gen.G takes revenge against HLE in LCK Finals 2025 to become Champions

Gen.G make a strong statement in the LCK Finals

Gen.G surprisingly showed up in the final as the challenger, having had to go through the lower bracket following the shocking loss against KT Rolster. After taking down T1 and dismantling KT in the rematch, Gen.G had one last series to show why they are the strongest team in the world and the title favorites for this year’s Worlds.

HLE were hoping to give Peanut his last LCK title, now that he’s confirmed to go to the military. But Gen.G, led by an extraordinary Ruler, showed up on the day in bright form, proving that the KT loss was only a hiccup.

The series started off in typical Gen.G fashion. Despite slightly falling behind at the start of the game thanks to Peanut’s Poppy, Gen.G gained back control by stacking dragons and farming the advantages. The game took a serious turn at the 20-minute mark when Kiin absorbed the pressure on Sion and Chovy picked up a triple kill on Ryze. The lead slowly snowballed and HLE’s base was destroyed in around 30 minutes.

The second game was much closer, with HLE keeping the gold difference close by trading objectives until the 39-minute drake, when Gen.G were able to get a magic teamfight with Ruler’s KaiìSsa after being denied two dragons.

HLE fight back in G3

Despite HLE struggling to defeat Gen.G all season long, their late form has been much more convincing and closer to the expected levels. Game 3 was a clear sign for that as the team switched to a more aggressive team composition by giving Peanut Jarvan IV. Paired with a strong skirmishing duo of Sylas and Braum, HLE slowly built their lead and cut the deficit by one game with Baron Nashor, in a game where Gen.G didn’t take down a single turret (despite having Ziggs).

Ruler is him

Game 3 looked like a major momentum swinger for HLE as they took control of the game by the 20-minute mark, having a 2.2k gold lead. The drafts were characterized by the support’s pocket picks: Delight chose Pyke while Duro went for Blitzcrank. That being said, it was once again Ruler who stood up for Gen.G and put an end to HLE’s comeback dream.

The ADC, on his signature Xayah, not only carried most of the teamfights but also took down one dragon and the game-deciding Baron Nashor. Despite HLE’s late-game comp with the ‘Ornnaments’, Gen.G executed the teamfights better. After the last fight in the mid lane, Gen.G took down HLE’s base for the third time to become the 2025 LCK Champions. Unexpectedly, Ruler was voted the FMVP.

Next Stop: Worlds

Both teams will now be heading to China for Worlds as the first and second seeds, respectively. Both teams will wait to see who their Round 1 opponents are and will play their first series on October 15. With Gen.G looking dominant once again, will this be the year they finally get their hands on the world championship?
