Arcane gave Riot Games a taste of how much audiences covet the lore and story arcs they have built in their magical world of Runeterra. Many fans are now wondering if there will be a sequel; where and when. Christian Lineke – the co-creator of the show – shared some insights in an interview with the content creator Necrit94 on Twitch.

New League of Legends shows will explore Runeterra after Arcane

Noxus, Demacia, and Ionia to be explored next

It’s now confirmed that Riot Games is exploring three other regions at the moment to expand that cinematographic universe: Demacia, Noxus, and Ionia. He also said that one of them has already been in the pipeline for a year now. Marc Merill – Riot Games CEO – clarified by calming the ardour of fans who were expecting three different series to be already planned.

While most media covered the statements as three separate shows in the making. Marc ‘Tryndamere’ Merrill (Riot co-founder) later clarified they are working on multiple shows and games and not necessarily three shows centered on each region.

The Leagues of Legends’ game itself will already be dedicated to Noxus for Season 1 of 2025 – that Ambessa has also been introduced as a playable champion and Mel should follow – a show about Noxus to pursue the plot surrounding House Medarda and the Black Rose, which has yet to be resolved, could be the next step Riot Games is considering.

It’s not out of the question that we’ll be seeing some of our Arcane’s protagonists again in the future…

Runeterra is a vast world, home to many regions of our famous League of Legends champions. Arcane featured the cities of Piltover and Zaun, and this part of the world of Runeterra should not come back any time soon as a complete show. Riot Games has other plans in mind and wants to bring the stories of other characters to the fore.

Spoiler disclaimer if you haven’t seen Arcane Season 2 Episode 9:

The appearance of one of Swain’s three-eyed ravens at the end of the series is another clue pointing in the direction of Noxus. As Ambessa outlined during her training with Caitlyn – and for those unfamiliar with the lore – Noxus is a decentralized empire ruled by three governors, each representing a Pillar of Strength. Known as “Trifarix”, Swain represents vision, Darius represents might, and someone whose identity remains a mystery represents guile. Maybe this mysterious organization, “the Black Rose” has something to do with it…

Once we visit Noxus, a whole Pandora’s box opens in where the Runetera stories could take us. Noxus has a historical enemy arc with Demacia, whilst Arcane thus far hints at their war and invasion with Ionia. These are obviously the next two steps.

After that we are likely off to Freljord, Bilgewater or even the deserts of Shurima. The world of Runeteraa has so many stories to tell, and I am so hyped about what Riot Games has in store for us next.

Be warned, his articles can sometimes ooze a little too much of his lack of objectivity towards the French scene and players…
