This is everything you need to know about Doom Bots in LoL, as Riot is bringing back one of the hardest game modes to the MOBA title.

What is Doom Bots in League of Legends?

Doom Bots – The Nightmare game mode is returning to LoL

Unlike other game modes that feature unique maps, Doom Bots is a PvE game mode where players go against bots. While it may sound boring initially, the Doom Bots, as the name suggests, are incredibly powerful: each one will receive empowered abilities, making the game a literal nightmare for anyone jumping on this special version of Summoner’s Rift.

With Riot Games bringing back the Doom Bots to League of Legends in Patch 25.17, the Doom Bots of the 2025 season will feature Veigar and his overpowered allies. The goal is to survive 15 minutes and protect the Nexus. And once again, Riot is looking to increase the difficulty level of bringing smarter and deadlier AIs.

Smarter and Stronger Bots

This year’s Doom Bots are expected to have an improved AI system and an additional “Doom Bots layer” on top of that. According to Riot’s blog post, the featured champions, such as Wukong and Nami, will have heavily overpowered abilities across their entire kit.

Wukong, the Monkey King of Doom

  • Q: Bigger, stronger, and hits multiple enemies.
  • E: Spawns more clones depending on its rank.
  • R: Can result in up to seven spinning Wukongs at once — all with boosted stats.

Nami, the Tidecaller of Doom

  • Q: Splits into three bubbles on landing.
  • E: Now AoE, buffing multiple allies per rank.
  • R: Upgraded version.

These were the only two examples that Riot Games shared with us, so we will have to find out once the game mode is fully released.

Veigar Takes Center Stage as the Final Boss

In the previous version of Doom Bots, Teemo was the final Boss that would become your worst nightmares. While it’s still a Yordle to terrorize you, the new final Boss for this year’s Doom Bots is Veigar.

According to Riot, the mage won’t attack the Nexus until every inhibitor is destroyed, giving you more time to survive. That being said, it will be a ‘true raid encounter’, with champions potentially being sent into Mordekaiser’s Death Realm to fight the Doom Bots in isolation.

Missions and Playable Curses

Curses are also returning with a twist. The global buffs that affect every Doom Bot (or the map) will allow players to use them to their advantage, so be on the lookout for those when the map is released.

There are also going to be missions, which give out additional buffs and other potential rewards to increase your fighting capabilities. That being said, be aware that failing can turn those missions into another punishment for you and your teammates…

Trials of Doom – The latest addition

Riot also announced the introduction of rotational challenges to make things even more difficult, and each patch will have its own “Trial”. Beating all three Trials will earn you a special title.

When is Doom Bots LoL Released?

The game mode will return with the release of Patch 25.17, which is expected to go live on August 27, 2025, according to the official patch schedule. Expect the game mode to be playable on the PBE following the release of Patch 25.16.
