This is everything you need to know about the ranking system for LoL Arena in the 2025 season. Not only did Riot bring the game mode back with new features and augments, but the dev team also changed things to make the players feel progress without all the stress from dealing with ranks.

Arena in 2025 still has five ranks, but Riot has fine-tuned the thresholds and now uses fame levels to track each player’s progress:
Progression is straightforward: earn Fame by placing in the Top 4 teams in your match. You can also gain bonus fame by surviving more rounds, playing more champions (additional bonuses whenever you play, win, or get first with a new character), and by using the Bravery Button (locks random champion, adds 30 points) or playing a Crowd Favorite champion (10 points). Riot’s hidden MMR system works behind the scenes to ensure fair matchmaking, pairing you with players of comparable skill regardless of displayed rank.
With updates coming once every two patch cycles (which means you get updates every month), finding the strongest champions and duos is essential to quickly gaining Fame. We have compiled our own LoL Arena Tier List, updated to the latest patch. Bear in mind that Fame levels won’t increase for full 16-player lobbies.

The major change is the increase in the number of duos in each lobby. From the four duos of last year, this year’s Arena can have up to 16 players in each lobby, leading to more dynamic and chaotic late-game fights. While it makes the game more fun, it’s also a bit tougher to finish in the top four, as you would need to beat four duos.
This year’s LoL Arena comes with a few adjustments compared to the previous version:
How many ranks are there?
Five: Wood, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gladiator.
Can you get demoted?
No, you just gain Fame points whenever you hit the selected milestones.
Can you solo queue in LoL Arena?
Yes. You can play solo, although it’s usually better to play at least with one teammate to maximize the chances of success.
