Even though League of Legends is a team-based game, there are still several opportunities to solo carry in your ranked games. Aside from having great fundamentals and strong game knowledge, picking the right champions is equally important to increase your chances of victory. Here are the best picks for the 2025 season.

Best Champions to solo carry in soloQ in 2025

In a game where the meta is constantly evolving, champions’ power levels are bound to shift. That being said, there are some picks out there that have high impact and strong carry potential, regardless of their position in the tier lists. This guide will help you go over the best champions solo carry for every role, explaining their value and how they should be played. Each role will feature three picks, giving you good enough variety to rotate their use in your journey as you climb the ranked ladder.

Best solo carry top lane champions

With the recent changes to the teleport, lane-dominant champions have become more relevant in the top lane. If you’re able to punish your enemy opponent, there is a high chance you can snowball the lane and take control of the game. The best solo carry champions are:

Fiora

  • Thanks to her great dueling and split-pushing potential, Fiora is one of the best top laners to crush your games. She excels in isolated matchups and offers good mobility and damage. On top of that, she can parry key abilities to protect herself.
  • That said, she is also one of the toughest champions to master and she is not as unforgiving as others. Weaker than most champions early on, wait for the two-item spike to force plays.

Riven

  • Similar to Fiora, Riven is another champion with great damage and incredible mobility. She is also a bit stronger than Fiora in early-game trades, although she falls off a bit more later in the game.
  • However, you need to be able to master her combos and trading patterns well to dominate the lane. She also has some touch matchups such as Malphite or Wukong, so make sure to pick her as a counter.
  • Additional tip: force early trades and look for kills on the minion wave to hit level 6: you should have enough burst damage to finish off any opponent.

Jax

  • Even though he was nerfed a few times last season, Jax continues to hold strong as a great top lane pick. Not only does he excel at split pushing and great 1v1 scenarios, but he’s also one of the few that can survive early dives thanks to his E.
  • Later in the game, he will have enough damage and resistances to kill multiple enemies alone. Play for his two or three-item spikes to dominate the side lane and exert pressure.

Best solo carry junglers

Even though junglers can usually make a difference in a game thanks to their early-game agency, the best junglers to carry games are usually ones that require lots of resources:

Viego

  • Ever since his release, Viego has become one of the best jungle champions to carry games in solo queue. He has a powerful clear and great DPS, but most importantly, a game-changing passive that allows him to posses enemies’ champions and use their abilities.
  • He’s one of the best at snowballing the game in the meta. Find opportunities to constantly punish enemies and use the item advantage to force even more plays.

Talon

  • Although he’s not quite a popular pick, Talon is an underrated solo carry jungle pick. While his clear is somewhat subpar, he makes it up with incredible mobility and one of the most annoying burst combos in the game.
  • The trick to mastering Talon is to punish the enemy jungler and constantly invade their jungle. Kill them while they are busy farming and pick up kills whenever possible. With the Lethality build, you can dominate the mid-game by assassinating key enemy threats.

Kayn

  • The Darkin version of Kayn (Blue Kayn) has similar characteristics to Talon, with the exception that the former doesn’t have to fully commit his positioning to assassinate enemies. All he has to do is throw W’s across walls to harass them and finish them off as soon as they overstep.
  • To win more games, the goal is to reach the Blue form as quickly as possible and utilize the lethality items to snowball in the mid game by playing aggressively in the enemy areas. Just be careful not to overcommit plays since Blue Kayn is squishy.

Best solo carry mid lane champions

While mid laners used to be full of damage dealers, the recent mid lane meta has shifted more towards playmaking champions or champions that can deal lots of AoE damage.

Ahri

  • Ahri has always been an evergreen champion in the mid lane. Regardless of the meta, she brings lots of value in any team composition and doesn’t have particularly tough matchups thanks to her ultimate.
  • If you have a good laning phase, look to punish the enemy mid lane. Otherwise, quickly shove waves and look to make roams on the map with your jungler.

Katarina

  • Katarina is incredibly strong in the lower ends of the ranked ladder due to her ability to burst down multiple targets and reset her abilities.
  • That said, Katarina requires great mechanical proficiency and her laning phase can be sub-par. You must have good sense for finding good trades and entering the fights.

Hwei

  • Hwei has been one of the most underrated mid lane picks in the recent meta. He has incredible range, absurd burst damage, and good enough crowd control.
  • The champion can be a little tough to master at first but it’s mainly about hitting skillshots.

Best solo carry ADCs

ADC are by nature the best champions to win games. Nonetheless, some picks have more late-game power and offer more DPS, making them the better champions when you need to take over the games.

Jinx

  • Jinx is one of the more traditional ADCs in the game. She is relatively immobile but has high attack speed and offers long-range abilities to finish off opponents. If you’re able to activate her passive, she will become basically unstoppable.

Twitch

  • In one way or the other, Twitch shares the same characteristics as Jinx, with the exception that Twitch deals higher burst damage and from a longer range due to his ultimate. You will lose a bit of DPS potential, but the trade-off is fairly worth it, especially when you’re ahead.

Kai’Sa

  • Among the ADC picks, however, Kai’Sa is my favorite solo carry ADC. She has much more mobility than the other two while having similar levels of DPS. But most importantly, she has more playmaking, allowing her to reposition with her ultimate. If you’re able to constantly get her ahead, she will pay you back with lots of victories.

Best solo carry support champions

Support champs are rarely the highest damage dealers, but there are some picks out there that can impact games with their damage and be extremely annoying to deal with.

Zyra

  • While she’s usually now preferred as a jungler, Zyra still boats a great laning phase and good enough burst damage to punish the enemies. As long as she hits her root, the enemy’s health bar will be chunked.
  • Zyra also has a powerful AoE ultimate, which has the potential to turn around teamfights.

Pyke

  • Pyke is one of those high-risk, high-reward champions. Due to his kit, he is squishy and can be easily punished. On the other hand, however, he can be obnoxious to deal with thanks to his roaming and pick potential.
  • By capitalizing on enemy mispositioning, you can take over the games and become a constant menace.

Xerath

  • Xerath is another mage support that offers great poke for the laning phase and above-average damage output. Even though it requires you to hit many skill shots, enemies will struggle to land a finger on you without heavily committing their resources.
  • The best advice to pick the champion is to make sure you have a good ADC to pair it up with that can match the poke like Ezreal or Jhin.
