The stakes were massive at the HCS Charlotte Major 2025. $250k on the line, but it was the opportunity to add to a legacy that will have mattered the most to these players. With just the Halo World Championship 2025 remaining before competitive Halo Infinite draws to a close, both Shopify Rebellion and FaZe Clan had the opportunity to win the final HCS Major in this game.

Shopify Rebellion beat FaZe Clan with ease to win HCS Charlotte Major 2025

Of the two, Shopify Rebellion were always heavy favorites. HCS Charlotte Major 2025 was supposed to be between Shopify Rebellion and OpTic Gaming, but the latter had already fallen at the hands of FaZe Clan in the previous round. A 3rd place finish for FormaL and co, but I’ll get to that soon enough. Instead, let’s celebrate the winners first.

Shopify Rebellion take 4:1 Grand Final over FaZe Clan

For underdogs FaZe Clan to win this Grand Final, it was always going to take a herculean feat. They’d need to first reset the bracket by winning the best-of-seven series, then repeat the feat all over again. All while being dark horses. Underdog stories are always great fun, but that was not the narrative here.

No. Shopify Rebellion showed exactly why they were the favorites to win this event from the very start, storming to an early 3:0 lead. They threatened a complete clean sweep, but FaZe Clan were able to claw back a single map win on Assault to recover some dignity. They put on a brave face, but FaZe Clan were always the best of the rest, so this series had an inevitable conclusion. Shopify Rebellion closed things out with a comfortable Slayer on Solitude – rather an anti-climax given the size of the occasion.

You could praise all the Shopify Rebellion players to high heaven here – everyone showed up on this Championship Sunday. But it was LastShot who led the way for his team with a total of 85 Slays across the series, a 1.35 K/D ratio comfortably the best in the server. After winning in Salt Lake City a couple of months ago, Shopify Rebellion have secured back-to-back Majors at HCS Charlotte Major 2025. Legendary, and one more chance to cement their legacy at the Halo World Championship awaits later this month. You wouldn’t bet against them, that’s for sure.

If this event was for OpTic Gaming to show they were still on level pegging with Shopify Rebellion, it can only be seen as a dismal failure. The Green Wall fell before the Grand Final at the hands of FaZe Clan, featuring three of the former OpTic players deemed not good enough by FormaL at the end of last year, before he got his all-star “superteam.” Some fans will get a certain schadenfreude from this match, of this I’m sure.

It was FormaL himself who struggled the most to find impact for OpTic on Championship Sunday. On the other side, you had Lqdend, who seemingly already has one foot in Call of Duty, leading the scoreboard when the going got tough. Third place for this team is simply below par, and they’ll need some big improvements in a short space of time if they’re to compete with Shopify Rebellion at the Halo World Championship 2025.
