We might not be getting an FNCS Major this season, but we are getting plenty of tournaments, starting with the FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup. A brand-new tournament coming to every region of Fortnite. It’s to celebrate the release of a new Icon in the game, with the chance for players to win by just taking part.
Lachlan might not have an FNCS win to his name, but he is getting a new Icon Skin. These skins celebrate the real lie figures in Fortnite and a handful are going to get new FNCS versions. Similar to the old skins, but wearing FNCS Major themed clothes. These Cups will be held with the release of each of the skins. We began with Clix, fresh off 2nd place at Major 2, and next up is the Lachlan Icon Cup.
It seems it doesn’t matter if the content creators have won or not. Bugha is an FNCS winner, but we’ve also had Clix who just missed out. Then Lachlan, with the FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup, and then Loserfruit. The last two might not be competitive players, but the skins are fun enough and this is a good opportunity to get practise in Reload tournaments.
This is how it’ll work and how you can take part:

The new tournament is going to be played in Reload. Not normally the focus for tournaments, but the game mode is having a bit of a moment with Star Wars content like X Wings all over the map. Players can take part in Duos, in the Reload game mode.
Duos will get a three-hour segment where they can take part in ten matches. Just like Cash Cups, getting all ten games in might be tricky if they’re hitting late game each time. Players have to try and get points from kills and placement to make it to the top of the leaderboard. The FNCS Lachlan Icon Cup awards prizes to a differing number of players depending on your region.
The area where we’ve got the biggest difference with the FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup is the scoring system. We don’t get too many events for Reload, so it’ll be a bit different to what we’ve seen before.
The details of scoring is obviously a little different to past cosmetic cups. The FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup is being played in Reload, which means you get respawns and death isn’t as harsh. So the points for placement and kills are slightly lower.
In previous tournaments we’ve seen players take strange measures thanks to Reload’s changes. Like storm camping, which lead to over-the-top storm sickness being added. Although, there’s no extreme surge meta like Battle Royale at the moment. It seems there’s a better scoring solution in play for the FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup though.

Since this is a skin Cup, the prize pool isn’t exactly on level with the FNCS Majors. Players will be able to win cosmetics in-game instead. You can unlock the FNCS Icon skin that’s due to be released with the Pro-AM later in the month. It’s a different amount in different Fortnite regions though. This how many win it in each server:

Anyone with an account ready to play in Fortnite tournaments can jump into the FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup! All you need is to have the required 2FA stuff turned on, and enter the tournament. You will need to have an account in good standing. But outside of the basics it’s a pretty open tournament! Of course, you’ll still need to secure a Duos partner if you want to win.

The FNCS Icon Cups are an early look at some of the skins, with a chance to win them before they go on sale. When can we actually expect them in store though? They’ll likely be arriving along with the Pro-AM, a week or so after these tournaments. Players can get it early by taking part though.
The FNCS Icon Lachlan Cup is being played in Reload. Unlike the older Performance Evaluations, you can take part in these openly. Anyone can enter provided they meet the requirements for Fortnite tournaments.
