The Milk Cup Finals to Take Place at L.A. Comic Con

Gonna Need Milk, in cooperation with Women of the eRena (WOTE) and esports broadcasting platform Raidiant, just announced that the Milk Cup Finals will be held at L.A. Comic Con (LACC) on October 5th, 2024. The convention itself is set to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, located in the southwest area of downtown Los Angeles.

99 Fortnite players, all of whom are girls and women ages 13 and above, will be flown by the organizers to Los Angeles to participate in a Fortnite Battle Royale tournament with $175,000 in prize money on the line. The trios in question all come from the Milk Cup qualifier stages, which took place over the last three months from May to July.

“The L.A. Comic Con team is thrilled to play host to The Milk Cup LAN championship,” says L.A. Comic Con VP and Event Director Alli Johnson in the press release. “The Milk Cup is an incredible event empowering women gamers to come together, compete, and further their careers.”

According to Gonna Need Milk, attendance for all 99 participants will be all expenses paid. “The Milk Cup is also covering all travel expenses and accommodations for the 33 qualified trios, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder participation,” said Gonna Need Milk in the press release.

The Milk Cup LAN Finals: Format and Schedule

The competition itself will be held over six individual Fortnite Battle Royale matches, with building enabled. Each team will be scored based on their placement in each round, as well as team eliminations.The team that scores the most points will walk away with $75,000, and the honor of being the first ever women’s Fortnite LAN champions.

The tournament starts at 1pm PDT, at the Freeplay Zone in the West Hall of LACC. Aside from regular convention visitors, fans 13-17 years of age can avail of discounted tickets to the convention, named Milk Teen Tickets. These start at $30 rather than $68.50 for the Saturday pass.

Just like the third qualifier round, Women of the eRena will stream the entire event on their official Twitch channel. Fortnite desk host Kelly Link will be the master of ceremonies, joined by commentators Jennifer “LemonKiwi” Pichette and Melissa “Taco” Posada.
