Sonic X Fortnite has been one of the most requested collabs for years. Although, with Sonic’s weird design it always felt like one that just couldn’t work. Even as Fortnite brought in more and more different skins from gaming, Sonic seemed out of reach. According to leakers though, a Sonic Fortnite collab is coming soon.
At this point, there’s very few Fortnite collabs which would shock players. Now the game has featured Godzilla, Family Guy, Miku, what could still be shocking? This new collab will probably make some headlines though.
We’re still waiting to see how exactly they’ll fit into the world of Fortnite. Their hitboxes might be a bit skewed. We’ve seen Epic make some creative choices to get characters to fit in the past though. This is what we know about the Sonic X Fortnite collab:

One of the next big collabs is going to be Sonic X Fortnite. It’ll be a collaboration with the series of games that made Sega a household name in gaming. Although, one that’s maybe seen better days than the last few decades. We know about two skins that are coming. So far, leakers think that both Sonic and Shadow are both locked in.
We don’t know about other characters just yet though. Tails, Knuckles, or some even weirder characters from the expanded worlds of Sonic might be in the works. For now, it seems the two main hedgehogs are the inclusions though.
This upcoming collaboration will have to find a way to get the characters to fit. We’ve heard rumours about the Sonic collab for years now, with their dimensions apparently being a problem.
We have seen some versions of Sonic which would fit into the general Fortnite hitboxes. The movie design Sonic and Shadow would probably fit in. Although, their giant heads might not make them the best Fortnite skins for tournaments. We could see them have their hair as empty space instead of a hitbox, so it doesn’t register a hit. Other skins with oversized heads already have this effect, so the Sonic Fortnite skins wouldn’t be alone.
We’ve also seen characters like Jack Skellington get their proportions stretched to fit. Others like the giant chicken are just put in at the wrong size, no matter how much they clip through walls. The Sonic characters on the other hand would probably be smaller than we’d expect though. Which causes more of a problem. It’s fine to have a skin give a competitive disadvantage, but advantage by being smaller is harder. There is one area where Sonic X Fortnite is a great fit though.

As well as new skins, we’ll be getting two sets of Kicks to go with them! This is the perfect extra cosmetic for Sonic Fortnite skins.
Fortnite kicks or shoes are a relatively newer cosmetic item. They’ve been included in a few other bundles, generally they’re quite overpriced. However, Sonic and Shadow or Sonic X Fortnite skins in general might be a good fit.
Sonic’s modern design kind of started with the Dreamcast Sonic Adventure. Which featured a collab with a real-world shoe company, Sonic sporting them to show them off. The follow up similarly put a focus on Sonic’s shoes, given the speed focus of the character, and introduced Shadow. For both of these skins, Kicks will complete things. Let’s just hope they don’t have weird bare hedgehog feet if you don’t buy the kicks though. Though it might drive sales.

We don’t know too much about the Sonic X Fortnite leak yet. When can we expect it? These kinds of leaks can sometimes come quite ahead of time. It might not even arrive this season.
Since we’re going into Fortnitemares with collabs like Scooby Doo coming, there probably won’t be space for Sonic. Then we’ve got a whole Simpsons collab season. So that might put Sonic as coming the season after! Hopefully, it does turn up sooner than later though.
Fortnite Sega collabs have been pretty frequently rumoured, but less frequently showing up. We had a huge false start with Persona. Dataminers found the early evidence for the Reload game mode, and interpreted it as a tie in for the Persona collab. Turned out to be a mini royale instead with a similar name!
Then there was the Yakuza/Like a Dragon collab, which was reported as coming for Chapter 6 Season 2. It made perfect sense, the Japanese map and a crime season. But the crossover never arrived either. Hopefully, the Sonic X Fortnite collab is the Sega IP to finally break that pattern though! Dataminers seem pretty certain it’s arriving soon.
