If you’re trying to jump back into Fortnite with the new Chapter, some things are missing. Fortnite Blitz, OG, and Reload are all gone. The bulk of the most popular Fortnite modes have been removed in Chapter 7. But we will see OG, Ranked, and Reload come back.

When Does Fortnite Reload Come Back? OG, Blitz, Ranked

At the end of the last Fortnite live event, the Bartle Bus got destroyed. It was a little hard to catch since the game froze up for half the player base before it got to this point. But it happened at the end of the new season trailer. For some reason, this one lore detail is being enforced game wide! The battle bus is gone. So are the modes that rely on it.

Fortnite modes which use the Battle Bus are out of action for a little while. It’s probably more a case of epic wanting everyone to try the new Chapter out. Instead of the Fortnite lore details deciding which mode is available, the lore was probably written to fit this idea. It means everyone who plays a BR mode will try out the new Chapter. But it won’t be forever.

The other Fortnite game modes are making a return. But we have to wait a few days before they’ll actually turn back on. It’s not too far away if you want to see Reload come back desperately. Not to mention Ranked, Blitz, or OG, this is when you can expect them to come back to Fortnite:

When Will Fortnite Blitz, OG, and Reload Come Back?

Fortnite isn’t just a Battle Royale. There are also other modes that give a lot more variety. Although, the most popular (outside of Fortnite XP maps at the right end of the season) is often other Battle Royales. These have all been disabled in Chapter 7.

We’ve got Fortnite Blitz. Which is a pretty new Royale, it was only introduced in the summer. A Mini Battle Royale which is getting a brand-new map soon. But right now, it’s gone.

Then there’s OG. This began life as a dedicated Fortnite season. It was just brought back though, as a bigger mode. It has been running through the old Fortnite seasons ever since. Starting at Chapter 1 Season 1 and getting all the way up to late Chapter 1 now.

There’s also Reload. First introduced back when Epic made Battle Royale a car combat simulator in a featureless desert for an entire season. A strange season. Players flocked to Reload instead. Which was a new mini Battle Royale, where you could respawn. It was basic weapons, and really an excuse for all fights all the time.

Each of them offers something different, especially if Battle Royale isn’t in a fun season. But for Chapter 7, it’s back to the core mode. Epic has removed the others for some reason.

Were they Disabled for Fortnite Lore?

The first thought after they turned off these game modes might have been why Epic was turning off modes with hundreds of thousands of dedicated players, when nothing was wrong with it. It was because the Battle Bus got destroyed, but that’s probably not the reason.

The game likely destroyed the Battle Bus after deciding to block off the other Royales for a week. Fortnite has become quite diffused in recent seasons. With more and more players ignoring the Battle Royale mode entirely. This will force other BR players to test out Chapter 7, at least while they wait for Reload to come back. Rather than just sticking to Reload and never giving it a go.

So, it’s probably not a case of modes being erased to match Fortnite lore. But lore being arranged to suit what Epic had planned for Fortnite. They’re running some quests teasing the return of these modes too. (Although, there seems to be a firm date in mind already)

Will the Quests Speed things Up?

Right now, if you open up containers on the Battle Royale map, you’ll be able to find parts of the Battle Bus! Players are trying to rebuild the Bus, which will probably let us use the Bus to drop in. Ending the tyranny of a forced cut scene at the start of every game which makes you drop in the same spot over and over. The quests probably won’t speed things up though. There already seems to be an end date in mind.

According to the in-game timer, these modes will return to Fortnite on December 4th. That’s the date currently given. In-game, you should see a specific countdown for these modes already.

It seems like the game will bring all the modes back in time for Winterfest 2025! The Christmas event should be timed for everyone to go back to whatever mode they prefer. For a little while though, players will have to make do with the normal Battle Royale.
