The first day of the PGL Wallachia Season 6 Swiss group stage just concluded and with 8 best of 3s taking place across two streams, keeping up with everything that happened is easier said than done. There was plenty of brilliant Dota on show but most of the matches today ending exactly as expected, especially over on stream B.
Here’s how the day went.
The results lines from stream A don’t quite reflect the nature of the games. You could be forgiven for thinking Yakult Brothers had Team Spirit on the ropes and perhaps they did in game 1 but in game 2, the Chinese team gg’d out after just 19 minutes when their extremely odd Huskar pick came up against Yatoro’s Abaddon.
Stream B was a much more straightforward affair, every bo3 was won 2-0 with 50% of the games ending in under 30 minutes, which might be the most surprising thing that happened today on this stream. MOUZ continued their winning ways and Liquid looked a lot more confident. The only surprise came right at the end of the day when HEROIC came up against Navi.

The first outing for OG’s new SEA roster was a resounding success. They had a tough match up against PARIVISION and the 2-0 win might make sure the players don’t get benched by tomorrow morning. In game 1, OG drafted the first Windranger carry that I’ve seen in a long time, the perfect pick against Pari’s Ursa. They didn’t get off to the best start but this game had an el classico Dota 2 comeback.
Game 2 was 70+ minutes and turned into one of those beautiful games of Dota where it comes down to pure skill to win. During the final fight just outside the Dire base, I thought we were going to game 3 when Natsumi’s TA dropped her rapier, which was picked up by Satanic’s Kez. But once Yopaj- bought back on Primal Beast and caught Kez with his ult, it was all over and Pari GG’d out.
Navi’s match against HEROIC was a bit more entertaining than the three that came before it today on the B stream. The second game in particular started off promisingly, with Yuma “Yuma” Langlet getting his hands on his signature Meepo. HEROIC also turned to the mid Venomancer for Adrián “Wisper” Dobles, something which we saw Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng pull out at BLAST Slam 4.
Things didn’t quite go to plan for them, though, as they were unable to secure themselves a significant enough lead early to justify the Meepo pick. Meepo is kind of like Alchemist, in the sense that if your team picks the hero and you only manage to stay even in net worth with your opponents, something has already gone horribly wrong.
Navi’s side, meanwhile, was having a great time of it. The combo between Mars’ Arena of Blood (R) and Shadow Fiend’s Requiem of Souls (R) regularly helped them make short work of HEROIC’s lineup, and soon they were enjoying a 13,000 gold lead by the 20th minute. Incidentally, Mars was being piloted by Yurii “pma” Prots, who didn’t die a single time this entire series. Just a fantastic showing from Navi all around, giving them something to smile about heading into the next round of the Swiss stage.
