If you haven’t been paying a tonne of attention, you could be forgive for not knowing that this change of location happened. But now, EU Counter-Strike fans are being treated to another tournament in their region: PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025. Sixteen teams are going to descend on Romania for some red hot Counter-Strike action.

PGL Cluj-Napoca is stepping in to fill the role that Buenos Aires was going to play in the PGL Counter-Strike circuit. It’s disappointing for South American fans to have even fewer tournaments in their region but perhaps PGL will return another time, perhaps as soon as 2026.
In their release, PGL confirmed “Due to an exceptionally busy CS2 calendar with numerous back-to-back events, we have decided to relocate our February event from Buenos Aires to Cluj-Napoca.”…”With most top teams participating in European tournaments before and after our event, this move helps travel logistics and reduces strain on the teams.”
PGL have very much taken an eyes wide open approach to this tournament and I’m all for it. We know that teams will receive their invitations for this tournament on January 6th 2025 so we can expect an official announcement to take place a couple of weeks afterwards.
