I can admit that I was a little frosty on MOUZ’s choice to replace siuhy with Spinx prior to IEM Katowice. Hell, I’m still convinced they replaced the wrong player, with Brollan taking up the IGL mantle for the time being. But in their first event as a full roster at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, MOUZ have managed to reach the Playoffs, an impressive result given all the turmoil at the organization. Let’s talk about Spinx’s role in this a little, as I think he’s the key man behind it all right now.

No matter your opinion of MOUZ’s roster move, there’s no doubt that by bringing in Spinx, the team has added a world-class Counter-Strike player. Even at his worst, he delivers on a consistent basis, thriving in the toughest positions of every map. We’ve already seen that in his first few matches with MOUZ at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025.
Right now, that’s exactly what MOUZ need. Remember, Brollan is a novice IGL. His calls won’t be perfect, and he may inadvertently lead his own team into trouble. Not his fault – that’s the nature of the job. That’s where the individual difference in quality becomes so important. When the going gets tough, you need a player who can step up with multikills to single-handedly win you the round. So far, during his short MOUZ tenure, Spinx has already had 35 multikill rounds, making a real difference when it matters.
MOUZ’s run at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 began flawlessly. After matches against BIG and 3DMAX, MOUZ found themselves in the 2:0 bracket without dropping a single map. This was where the real tests began. FaZe and Falcons were up next, both of whom proved to be too much for MOUZ. Coming into the last day of the Group Stage, MOUZ were up against Virtus.pro, another team with a precarious IGL situation that had been showing signs of life of late.
Once more, this is where Spinx’s experience at the top is invaluable for MOUZ. It would have been easy for the team to crumble after falling into the 2:2 bracket. Instead, he continued to deliver consistency to help MOUZ get over the line into the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 Playoffs. Compare this to their IEM Katowice result, where they bombed out win-less with academy prospect xelex filling in the gaps. That’s the Spinx diff.

I’m still not sure that Brollan as IGL is the remedy to MOUZ’s ailments, at least in the long term. I’ve seen this tape before – a new IGL catches teams off-guard with fresh calls, and then struggles to adapt when they dive into the demos for some anti-strats. However, this is part of why I like the Spinx move so much. Even if a change to the IGL needs to be made a little later down the line, having a player like Spinx to keep things ticking over should ensure there’s a high floor with this team. I’d certainly be surprised to see this complete roster bombing out of events in last place, even with the top teams not in attendance in the case of PGL Cluj-Napoca.
Next, MOUZ will face paiN Gaming in the Quarter-Finals of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025. It hasn’t been the cleanest run so far, but given their side of the bracket now includes paiN, The MongolZ, and Astralis, I can see a world where a Grand Final run is on the cards on Romania. Wouldn’t that be quite the debut for Spinx?
