VP Fame at IEM Katowice Playoffs: “We just want to win today and that’s it”

It’s almost time for the IEM Katowice 2025 playoffs to begin. Before the games, I got the chance to speak to Petr “fame” Bolyshev about playing with 2 new players and how he prepares for big games.

Congratulations on making the playoffs. This is the first time versus pro has made it since about 2022, I think.

How are you feeling?

fame: 2023, but yeah, I’m feeling very excited and I’m looking forward to play on the stage.

Sophie: Absolutely. Because you had to take down some pretty big opponents on your way here, right? Like G2, you played Eternal Fire already.

What was your preparation like for those games?

fame: Like, you know, we are still young team. We just played together maybe a month and a half and it’s hard to say about what our preparation. We’re every day trying to new to find some new things to discuss something with the team and it’s every day like a new day and every opponent is like a new life for us and we trying to prepare, just prepare for the next opponent and they don’t think you know about the future. We just want to win today and that’s it.

Sophie: Okay, I think that’s a good way of doing it,right? Because otherwise you get bogged down in all the games you have to play.

So every day is different, but do you have any routines, anything you like to do on a game day?

fame: I don’t know, nothing special. We just go to the breakfast with the team and we just have our death match routine. Maybe like one hour. I play like one hour and we have some preparation with the team. We watch games. Nothing special. It’s just normal routine.

Sophie: Okay, cool, so just to keep that bond and that relationship going. Okay, good. Because you’ve had a couple of roster changes lately.

How are they starting to settle into the team?

fame: It was very tough in the beginning because we changed two players especially we changed the captain IGL and it’s like a new team because electroNic also, he needs to gain his IGL experience back. And we have a new system because new IGL, two new players. We are a whole different team and we need alot of time to work together and we’re still growing and we still learning stuff every day, day by day. So it’s like this.

Sophie: Absolutely.

Are you finding you have to change your play style quite a lot?

fame: It’s hard to say because you know, we are still didn’t like have our playstyle. We’re trying to take okay from all the teams and yeah, we just new team still.

Sophie: Oh, maybe that’s why you’re doing so well, right?

fame: Maybe, maybe.
