It has to be a script right? The two best teams in the world are set to collide in the Grand Final of IEM Katowice 2025, one of the biggest tournaments outside of the Major. And while we have Spirit on one end of the spectrum, who have gotten to the stage in true Spirit fashion if we conveniently forget that loss against NAVI, Vitality on the other hand, have had to fight through some grueling matches.
But after all is said and done, both teams will put their journeys behind them tomorrow, wiping the slate clean to focus solely on what’s ahead of them. Let us take a look at what’s in store for us tomorrow at the Spodek.
Vitality is starting to heat up
This is exactly the start Vitality had hoped for after signing ropz, anything less they would have been a disappointment and anything more is just cherry on top. Any doubts surrounding their performance at BLAST Bounty Season 1 2025 have been laid to rest. The addition of ropz hasn’t just been a firepower boost to the team, but his presence has shifted the dynamic of the team.
As ZywOo mentioned in the post-match broadcast, his arrival has alleviated pressure on the rest of the team, allowing them to play with more freedom. As a result, flameZ has stepped up in a big way, averaging an impressive 1.24 rating at the event, while mezii has been a rock with a 1.12 rating.
And I feel flameZ’s contributions, especially this tournament, cannot be understated. He accounts for 30% of the opening duels in the team and has thrived in them. The grand-final, donk will either have flameZ in the face or ropz holding the rear end, and I can say for sure that in each duel, there’s only going to be one real winner, the viewers.
Spirit are on a hot streak
They are showing no signs of stopping, are they? The title defenders are here in full force despite just winning almost everything in recent memory. And for Vitality, it’s not just donk they have to worry about, it’s an in-form squad with magixx, sh1ro, and zontixx, who have all put up big performances throughout the event. Even chopper has had his moments of brilliance, with his performance against Virtus.Pro, Astralis, and GamerLegion still hot off the griddle.
The numbers speak for themselves. sh1ro leads with a 1.14 rating, magixx follows at 1.11, and zontix is right behind at 1.09. Donk’s presence alone is enough to strike fear into opponents, but with the entire squad firing on all cylinders, Spirit becomes a nearly unstoppable force.
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Will donk be able to get through ZywOo? Will sh1ro be able to maintain the same throughput in the final?
