Admit it – when Aurora announced that they had benched their roster a few hours ago, you figured they were just exiting CS while their players’ stock were high, right? After all, gr1ks could be the perfect gamble for G2 to replace m0NESY, who seems to be on the imminent outs to Falcons. What you, or literally anyone, didn’t expect was for the Serbian organization to pick up the entirety of Eternal Fire embracing a new Turkish identity and instantly propelling themselves to the upper echelons of the competitive Counter-Strike circuit.

Eternal Fire CS2 Roster’s Move To Aurora is the Most Shocking Transfer of 2025

I had to do a double-take, staring at my screen with a cartoonish jaw-drop. Eternal Fire and Turkish Counter-Strike are so entwined, and their recent success suggested that they were here to stay. And with the Major coming up, money wasn’t a problem… right? With no insiders leaking this one, it undoubtedly came as the most shocking transfer of 2025. See how much better it is when these kinds of things actually come as a surprise?

Sponsorship troubles prompt Eternal Fire sale

Although both organizations have understandably remained coy on the details, a translated tweet from woxic provides some interesting insight into why this move has happened in the first place. He describes “insufficient CS sponsorship conditions in Turkey,” making it “necessary to make this unfortunate decision.”

It’s an interesting glance into the tough economics behind competitive Counter-Strike and esports as a whole. Despite being a regular at Majors and a very competitive team on the server, it’s still not enough to keep the team alive financially. It remains to be seen if Eternal Fire will build another roster under different financial conditions, claiming “this isn’t goodbye; it’s the beginning of a new flame lighting up new paths.”

As for the previous Aurora players, they’ll likely be sold individually across the scene, with Patsi and gr1ks remaining two solid young talents. Keep your eyes out to see where they go next. Anyway, Aurora stickers confirmed, I guess.
