This transfer is one of the biggest in the history of the game. Dev1ce has been a member of Astralis since their inception in early 2016. With the Danish organization, dev1ce made his name as one of the best players to ever touch Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

His list of accomplishments is unparalleled. Dev1ce is a four-time Major champion with three back-to-back titles. He earned MVP in two of those Majors. Speaking of MVP’s, dev1ce has the most MVP medals of any player at 18. He has been on every HLTV Top 20 since 2014, making top five every year since the first. In terms of earnings, dev1ce is number three all-time in total prize money at $1,897,000. He is narrowly edged out by the two players who have been by his side since 2013, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth.

The Astralis core led by dev1ce has already gone down in history as the greatest dynasty to ever compete in Counter-Strike, and potentially all of esports. Now, the question is “will dev1ce be able to do the same with NiP?” The AWPer is still only 25 years old and his contract with the Ninjas is for three years. He will be replacing Tim “nawwk” Jonasson who is currently on the transfer list.

Dev1ce states, “Leaving Astralis is tough, to say the least. The boys will always be like family to me, but this covid era has left me thinking a lot; where do I see myself when it all goes back to normal? I’ve lived in Sweden for some time now, speaking the language and I’m really hyped about this young and exciting NIP project. To join one of the most successful organizations, where so many legends have played, inspires me.”

Dev1ce’s debut with NiP will come at Flashpoint 3 beginning on May 10th. Their current roster is:

Fredrik “REZ” Sterner

Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora

Hampus “hampus” Poser

Erik “ztr” Gustafsson

Nicolai “device” Reedtz

Björn “THREAT” Pers (coach)
