Playing as a CT-side anchor in CS2 is one of the most challenging jobs any player can face. Anchors play the worst spots, and are often the last line of defense for a bomb site before Ts rush in and take it. With anchors, the expectation is that they will die doing their job, but the best CS2 anchors will always take a few enemies down with them. The truly elite have the ability to stop a hit altogether.

Best CS2 Anchors: Top 5 For 2025

For years, Magisk was considered to be the quintessential Counter-Strike anchor. In more recent years, others have followed his blueprint to find success for themselves. Before we take a look at the best CS2 anchors in 2025, let’s go through some honorable mentions: b1t has suffered from NAVI’s poor 2025, Jimpphat would be here if not for a tougher 2025 individually, and The MongolZ’s mzinho falls just outside based on the quality of the top five.

5. zont1x (Team Spirit)

Team Spirit’s zont1x gets a bad rap from the community, but for my money, he’s definitely among the best CS2 anchors in 2025. He plays primary anchor roles on Ancient, Anubis, Dust2, and Train for Team Spirit, racking up a 1.10 CT-side rating so far this year. It’s a more than admirable performance, especially for a non-AWPer with a staggeringly low headshot percentage compared to most Tier 1 pros. Already a CS2 Major-winner at just 19, there’s plenty of time for zont1x to get even better in the CS2 anchor role.

4. Wicadia (Aurora)

Aurora’s Wicadia sometimes goes under the radar because his team is never really fighting for trophies. Don’t underestimate him, though – he has extraordinary mechanics that mean he’s a perfect candidate to be among the best CS2 anchors. His game sense is pretty underrated, too, which is why he’s tasked with anchoring sites on Ancient, Anubis, and Train for Aurora. Again, though, it’s his mechanics that really earn Wicadia his spot here – he’s pretty good for a solid clutch every now and then. A 1.08 CT-side rating in 2025 is nothing to scoff at in a team like Aurora.

3. frozen (FaZe Clan)

FaZe Clan’s frozen is a mechanical monster. You fancy him to win almost any situation, which is why he anchors A on Ancient and B on both Anubis and Train for FaZe Clan. It’s in these moments that frozen proves his worth – even when FaZe’s results haven’t always been the best, he’s still managed to rack up an impressive 1.11 CT-side rating for his team this year. Don’t let FaZe Clan’s lack of trophies fool you – it’s all despite having one of the best CS2 anchors in the world actively getting great results from terrible spots on the map.

2. mezii (Team Vitality)

Although mezii doesn’t anchor as much as ropz on Vitality, he’s tasked with the job of anchoring B on both Anubis and Mirage. He’s particularly adept at the task on Mirage, where he’ll often single-handedly stop a B play with his epic game sense. It’s always strange to see a British player reach the top of the game, but there can be no doubt with his 1.09 CT-side rating in 2025 that he’s among the best CS2 anchors right now.

1.  ropz (Team Vitality)

Vitality having the two best CS2 anchors in the world on one lineup almost feels unfair, but that’s the current reality. Both mezii and ropz share anchor duties across different maps, and the duo benefits from each other’s strengths. Playing A anchor on both Ancient and Anubis, he’s tasked with defending some of the most difficult bomb sites in the game. He also plays as the B anchor on both Dust2 and Train, somehow always finding impact from the toughest of positions. The scary thing is that ropz always looks like he’s getting better, too.
