Riot Games has announced the official dates, formats, and events for the upcoming 2025 Valorant Champions Tour circuit. No changes were made to the format, but the schedule has been stretched out.

Full VCT 2025 Schedule, Format, Dates Revealed

The 2024 VCT Season ended on a high note. We had the rise of Gen.G, giving the APAC region hope to win its first trophy, only for KangKang and EDward Gaming to snatch the spotlight at Champions. The season ended, as always, with the Game Changers Championship, won once again by Shopify Rebellion. We also bid farewells as legendary players like TenZ decided retire from professional play.

Nonetheless, the year is about to end, and we’ve already seen a handful of surprising roster implosions and transfers to look forward to in 2025.

VCT 2025 Teams

There would not be tournaments if there were no teams present. Once again, we’ll have 48 teams divided into four regions.

Every VCT region has retained 11 teams, with the last spot being claimed by the winners of Ascension. However, there was an exception in Pacific, where Bleed Esports received the boot. By the end of the year, one team from each region will be relegated.

VCT 2025 Events and Dates

On November 26, Riot Games revealed the official schedule for the VCT circuit next year. The events lined up for the 2025 season are as follows:

Tournament Regional/International Dates
VCT China Kick Off Regional Jan 11th – Feb 7th
VCT EMEA Kick Off Regional Jan 15th – Feb 7th
VCT Americas Kick Off Regional Jan 16th – Feb 7th
VCT Pacific Kick Off Regional Jan 18th – Feb 7th
Masters Bangkok International Feb 20th – March 2nd
VCT China Stage 1 Regional March 22nd – May 16th
VCT EMEA Stage 1 Regional March 22nd – May 16th
VCT Americas Stage 1 Regional March 22nd – May 16th
VCT Pacific Stage 1 Regional March 22nd – May 16th
Masters Toronto International June 7th – 22nd
Stage 2 Regional July 12th – Aug 15th
Stage 2 Playoffs Regional Aug 16th – 29th
VALORANT Champions International Sept 12th – Oct 5th

Riot Games has pretty much stuck to the same format as last year. The season mostly focuses on regional play and features two international events set for Bangkok and Toronto before we move on to the final tournament of the year – Champions, which will take place in Paris, France.

VCT 2025 Championship Points Distribution

Of course, the end goal for every team is to qualify for Champions. Similar to last year, teams can only book tickets to France if deemed worthy, which means they must display consistent performances throughout the year.

All VCT events reward teams with Championship Points, which will be tallied to decide which teams will represent their regions in Valorant’s biggest stage.

Refer to the image below on how Championship Points will be distributed:

Being the best in your region is often already good enough to land you a spot at Champions, which makes sense as we want a diverse environment for maximum fan engagement.

However, a Cinderella run at an international event could be enough to push you through qualifications even if you drop the ball in every other event. This is how Sentinels ended up showing their faces at Champions this year.

Closing Thoughts

In the 2024 season, fans were upset about how Riot Games had planned the competitive season. Teams who failed to qualify for Champions 2024 essentially had their competitive year ended early in July, as there were no other scheduled VCT events throughout the second half of the year.

So, I’m pretty glad that Riot Games has recognized its mistake and extended the 2025 VCT year to October, which would give teams a comfortable two months to shuffle before heading into the following year.

With most rosters making debuts in off-season tournaments, we, fortunately, won’t have to wait too long to see the VCT circuit back in action, as Kickoffs begin less than two weeks after we flip the calendar.
