Hotspawn spoke with BBL Esports’ lovers rock following the team’s dominant 2–0 win over Team Vitality i, continuing their strong start to VCT EMEA Kickoff after promotion to tier one competition.

Hotspawn: So my first question is a very important question.

Why is your name Lovers Rock?

Lovers rock: “It’s a song name. Me and my friend had to choose one nickname and I was like, ‘Oh, let’s just make my nickname a song name.’ Then we found this song and we just made it.”

Hotspawn: So talking about today’s game in particular, I think that there were a lot of expectations on both of your teams, especially after the run that you guys have had here so far.

How did it feel to 2–0 Vitality?

Lovers rock: “Today’s Vitality, I think they are good. I believe they will be even stronger when Sayonora comes into the team. Chronicle was very good. He was actually shooting us very well. Their gameplay is also good. But we were one step ahead in their minds. They are very good.”

Hotspawn: How are you guys so good on pistols?

Lovers rock: “I’m not sure if we are very good at pistols because I remember we lost both pistols against Fnatic on Haven last time. I thought we lost a lot of pistols. But today, yeah, today we were doing good. I don’t know. It’s just mastermind Eren ‘Rosé’. Ross calling us good. We did a better warm-up, I guess.”

Hotspawn: “You were completely feeling it with the Operator, especially on Abyss.

How do you get yourself mentally ready? Is there pressure to pop off?”

Lovers rock: “I always know when I get to CT side, I’m going to lock the game every time. I trust myself. Even if I start bad, I don’t care. Even if I had a bad game or bad map, I know I’m going to kill them next game. I don’t do anything special. I know my friends, my girlfriend, my family are watching my game. I need to be good looking to them because they are supporting me.”

Hotspawn: You’re one of the few rosters that stayed together.

What difference does that chemistry make?

Lovers rock: “We stayed together. Yeah, that’s good. Also we speak Turkish in the team, no foreigners. We understand each other easier. If we had foreigners, I don’t think communication would be this good. It was hard to stick together, but we passed that, and now we are destroying.”

Hotspawn: Coming from tier two to tier one, what’s the biggest difference?

Lovers rock: “In tier one, you can’t make mistakes — they punish you. And you need a very good mentality. If you get down once, you are not going to get up again. It’s more mental than tactical. Everyone is good. Even if you know their tactics, if you can’t shoot, if you see them as too big in your mind, you are not going to shoot well.”

Hotspawn: Turkish players always seem to have insane aim.

Why?”

Lovers rock: “First, genes definitely. Second, all Turkish players play all day, no life. If you do the same thing for 16 hours straight, of course you’ll be good. Most pro players see Valorant as their existence. When they become pro, they achieve most things and keep it by playing all day.”

Hotspawn: What does your daily schedule look like?

Lovers rock: “We come to the office around 12:00. We eat, go to the store, warm up until 13:00, practice, ranked, VOD review. Then we have about one hour to chill at 12:00 or 02:00. After that, we go home, maybe scroll TikTok or Instagram, spend time with my girlfriend or friends. We try to sleep at least eight hours and have two to three hours to chill.”
