Pretty much every Pokemon game lets you get Pikachu at some point. But how to get Pikachu in Pokemon Unite is a bit different. It’s not the kind of Pokemon game where you just wander around the grass until you find one. To get them here, you don’t need to do very much. Pretty much everyone ends up with one since it’s so simple to get a Pikachu in Pokemon Unite though.

How to Get Pikachu in Pokemon Unite

The game uses a different system for unlocking Pokemon, but you do still progress as you play. You level up Pokémon and get access to different ones depending on your progress. Like in Pokemon Yellow, Pikachu Pokemon unite is one of the earliest you’ll unlock! So early that a lot of players may end up overlooking them.

This is how you can get Pikachu in Pokemon Unite.

How to Get Pikachu in Pokemon Unite

  • Go Through Intro Tutorials – This includes practising with a Pikachu. Where you’ll get to know the Pikachu attacks in Unite too.
  • Receive a Pokemon Unite Pikachu

This works if you play the tutorial and get to keep the Pikachu at the end along with the Unite licence, you’ll also get your choice of different Pokemon to go along with Pikachu. It’s all tied to your Unite licence.

Technically, the main thing you need to get Pikachu in Pokemon Unite is your Tier 1 license. That’s where it starts, so you really don’t have to do much to get there. It opens with Pikachu! That’s pretty much the standard for Pokémon, you often get Pikachu pretty easily since he’s the mascot. here it’s literally just for getting through the tutorial though.

Normally, you collect license points and use them to advance to the next tier of the game. Once you get to each tier, you’ll be able to pick a Pokemon. You don’t’ need to get Pokemon Unite Pikachu that way though, you only need to go through the tutorial and it shows up. You will get your choice of another Pokemon after concluding the tutorial though.

That’s how you get Pikachu, but as the very first Pokemon you get is it really worth using them? Pikachu might not be the most advanced Pokemon in the roster but there’s some good reasons to use them. Especially if you’re still getting to grips with how the game works.

Pokemon Unite Pikachu Attacks and Moves

The Pikachu attacks in Pokemon Unite are quite similar to other Pokemon games in name and design. You’ll recognize most of their moves. But since this is a game where you control Pokemon directly instead of a turn-based RPG, they play considerably different. There are major changes from Pikachu Pokemon Unite and other games in the series.

Pikachu in Pokemon Unite is a Ranged Attacker. Their standard attack has a wide range so you don’t have to get too close to damage enemies. Although, they do also have some physical attacks like Jolt Tackle which move closer.

Pikeachu in Pokemon Unite is focused on offense. That’s its best stats. They’re endurance, scoring, and support are all below par though. Mobility is relatively low too. He’s pretty fairly balanced but might not be the level of pick you’ll see in the Pokemon Unite Championship Series yet.

Pikachu Pokemon Unite Evolution

The Pokemon Unite Pikachu cannot evolve either. In most Pokemon games, you can evolve them into a Riachu. Although, some Pikachus can’t be.

In some games, only an unevolveable Pikachu is available, like the cosplay Pikachu in the Gen 3 remakes. Similarly, you can’t evolve Pikachu in Pokemon Unite either. The game is a lot less focused on raising Pokemon and breeding like the normal games are though. You unlock Pokemon, often at their advanced evolution stage instead of training them up.

Pikachu’s unique in Pokemon Unique is Static. This can paralyse the pokemon around you. It’s a nice translation of the static ability that shows up in the games some times. These are their other abilities and Pikachu attacks:

  • Basic Attack – Simple electricity attack
  • Thunder Shock – Electric attack that can stun enemies
  • Electro Web – Can capture enemy Pokemon and freeze them up
  • Thunder – Big Thunderbolt attack, upgrades at Level 11
  • Electro Ball – Electric Ball attack
  • Thunderbolt – Stronger version of Electricity attack
  • Volt Tackle – Charge into enemy Pokemon
  • Thunderstorm – Bigger area thunder attack

Pikachu Pokemon Unite is a fun translation of the character. As Pokemon has gotten bigger and bigger, Pikachu’s role as mascot has meant they’re present in pretty every game. Pokemon Unite makes great use of them as the tutorial character. Meaning everyone who jumps in gets to see how they handle in Unite too.
