London Spitfire Release Profit and Gesture
The Overwatch League offseason continues to get crazier as more teams proceed to release players heading into the 2020 season. The London Spitfire surprised many, releasing former Grand Finals MVP Joon-yeong “Profit” Park along with Jae-hee “Gesture” Hong. The inaugural season champions will be looking quite different in 2020 with the likes of Profit, Gesture and Ji-hyeok “birdring” Kim no longer with the team.
Gesture has been a staple for the Spitfire since the beginning. The main tank made his name due to his larger than life personality and extremely strong play both on Winston and Orisa. He looked to be one of the best Orisa players in the game when the hero was so prominent in the meta. The Spitfire relied on their insane DPS play to help lead them to the 2018 championship, but Gesture’s consistently strong main-tank play was a major contributing factor to their success.
Profit is arguably one of the best (or even the best) Overwatch players in the world. The damage superstar has been with the Spitfire since day one and his amazing play helped lead London to become the inaugural season champions. He was awarded the much-deserved Grand Finals MVP award during that run. Profit tends to excel on every hero he plays and is one of the most flexible players in the game, solidifying his importance during a given match.
The London Spitfire have almost entirely dismantled their team leaving only a handful of players that include Jun-ho “Fury” Kim and Seung-tae “Bdosin” Choi. It’s hard to tell how the Spitfire will continue to approach the offseason and they build the rest of their roster. Profit and Gesture are rumored to be joining Seoul Dynasty and if it turns out to be true, the Dynasty just got some of the strongest players in the game.
