And just like the Galarian forms, Hisuian forms stem from already-discovered Pokemon, thus evolving from said Pokemon. Some of them have special conditions for evolving apart from leveling them up, which can be easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. In this guide, we’ll be looking at how to evolve all the Hisuian forms in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Only Pokemon with special evolution conditions in this guide. Those that only need to go past a certain level, regardless of whether or not they have Hisuian forms, will not appear here.
How to Evolve Hisuian Growlithe into Arcanine
- Type: Fire/Rock
- Available abilities: Intimidate, Flash Fire, Justified (hidden ability)
- Best moves: Crunch, Flare Blitz, Rock Slide, Double-Edge
One of the most iconic Pokemon from Generation I, Growlithe and its evolution Arcanine are sure to strike a chord with veteran Pokemon players. It gets a Hisuian form in Pokemon Legends Arceus, which players can find in the Cobalt Coastlands area.
Evolving Hisuian Growlithe into Hisuian Arcanine is the same as its regular form. Simply use a Fire Stone on it to evolve it. Obtaining a Fire Stone is also quite easy. You can get them from red ore mining nodes, or by purchasing them from Simona’s shop for 1,000 Merit Points.
How to Evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna
- Type: Normal/Ground
- Available abilities: Guts, Bulletproof, Unnerve (hidden ability)
- Best moves: Play Rough, Headlong Rush, High Horsepower, Stone Edge, Shadow Claw, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch
For the first time in six generations, the Teddiursa line gets another evolution in the fearsome Ursaluna. Upon evolution, Ursaring gets down on all fours and grows spikes on its head and back. Generation II fans will love the fact that Ursaring is getting attention with a new evolution, and Ursaluna’s frightening base attack of 140 is nothing to sneeze at either.
Meanwhile, its awesome base HP and defense stats makes it a tough tank, capable of dishing out what it can take. To evolve your Ursaring, simply use a Peat Block on it during a full moon night. Peat Blocks are found in the Crimson Mirelands, as treasure that you can dig up from the ground while riding the Ursaluna mount in the area.
How to Evolve Hisuian Sneasel into Sneasler

Another Generation II Pokemon, Sneasel is one of the coolest (pun intended) Pokemon ever designed. Its Hisuian form, however, is nothing like its Johto incarnation. Instead, Hisuian Sneasel is a Fighting/Poison type Pokemon, with a different moveset to match.
Despite its vastly different typing, however, Hisuian Sneasel and its evolution Sneasler are still pretty much the same in terms of what they do. Both are still fast physical attackers that hit incredibly hard. To evolve your Hisuian Sneasel into Sneasler, purchase a Razor Claw from Simona’s shop for 1,400 Merit Points, then use it on your Sneasel.
How to Evolve Stantler into Wyrdeer

- Best moves: Psyshield Bash, Zen Headbutt, Double-Edge, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Energy Ball
Pokemon Legends Arceus sure does love paying homage to Generation II. This time, it’s with the Normal/Psychic Pokemon Stantler, which gets an evolution for the first time in Hisui. All Stantler in Hisui will evolve into Wyrdeer regardless of where they came from, so there is no such thing as a Hisuian Stantler in the usual sense.
Wyrdeer has a decent base stat total, as well as mixed offensive stats that allow it to take advantage of both sides of the attacking spectrum. To evolve Stantler into Wyrdeer, you must have it use the move Psyshield Bash in Agile Style 20 times. After fulfilling this condition, you can evolve it through the Pokemon menu.
How to Evolve Scyther into Kleavor
- Type: Rock/Bug
- Available abilities: Swarm, Sheer Force, Steadfast (hidden ability)
- Best moves: X-Scissor, Stone Edge, Stone Axe, Psycho Cut, Air Slash, Close Combat, Swords Dance
Scyther is no stranger to special evolution conditions, as its original evolution Scizor requires it to be holding a Metal Coat after being traded to another player. You can still evolve Scyther into Scizor in Pokemon Legends Arceus this way, but you won’t need to trade Scyther anymore. Simply use the Metal Coat on Scyther to get the desired results.
But there’s more. Scyther received an alternate evolution in this game called Kleavor, a Rock/Bug variant that sports huge axe heads where its forelegs are. It looks fierce indeed, and its base attack stat of 135 (five points higher than that of Scizor) certainly attests to this. To evolve your Scyther into Kleavor, use a Black Augurite on it. In order to obtain a Black Augurite, make your way over to the Bolderoll Slope in the Crimson Mirelands, and defeat wild Graveler until one of them drops the item.
How to Evolve Petilil into Hisuian Lilligant
- Type: Grass/Fighting
- Available abilities: Clorophyll, Hustle, Leaf Guard (hidden ability)
- Best moves: Drain Punch, Leaf Blade, Close Combat, Poison Jab, Victory Dance, Recover
Hisuian Lilligant is quite different versus its counterpart from Unova, the region where it first debuted. Rather than being a special attacker, Hisuian Lilligant is more physically-inclined, with moves like Leaf Blade, Drain Punch, and Close Combat to boot. It’s also 15 points faster than its Unovan version, making it suitable as a fast physical sweeper when combined with Victory Dance.
To evolve your Petilil into Hisuian Lilligant, expose it to a Sun Stone from Simona’s shop for 1,000 Merit Points.
How to Evolve Hisuian Voltorb into Electrode

- Best moves: Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Chloroblast, Energy Ball
Voltorb is a classic Pokemon, being one of the most recognizable from Generation I. It gets a Hisuian form in Pokemon Legends Arceus: complete with the wooden texture that the Poke Balls of the region are known for. Its evolution Electrode also receives a Hisuian form as such.
To evolve your Voltorb into Hisuian Electrode, simply expose it to a Leaf Stone from Simona’s shop for 1,000 Merit Points.
How to Evolve Qwilfish into Overqwil
- Type: Dark/Poison
- Available abilities: Poison Point, Swift Swim, Intimidate (hidden ability)
- Best moves: Poison Jab, Aqua Tail, Barb Barrage, Rest
Since Generation II, the Water/Poison type Pokemon Qwilfish has not had an evolution. Until Pokemon Legends Arceus, that is. In this game, Qwilfish has the potential to evolve into Overqwil, which then changes its typing to Dark/Poison.
To do this, you must command your Qwilfish to use the move Barb Barrage in Strong Style 20 times in total, similar to Ursaluna.
How to Evolve Hisuian Sliggoo into Goodra
Sliggoo and its final evolution Goodra took the place of Generation VI’s pseudo-legendary Pokemon. This evolutionary line of Dragon types makes its return in Pokemon Legends Arceus, complete with Hisuian forms.
Its method of evolution is just the same as in Generation VI: evolve Sliggoo into Goomy at level 40, then evolve Goomy into Goodra by getting it to level 50 when it is raining in the overworld. This means that rain from things like Rain Dance or Drizzle will not count — it must be overworld only.
