Outriders Class Guide

Jalen Lopez

Outriders is an exciting third-person shooter with strong role-playing elements that allow players to customize their characters with unique powers and abilities. The game features four classes to choose from, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Any player can find the perfect class suited for their playstyle, and each class has three different skill tree paths to experiment with.

Understanding which Class is right for you will save you some time and prevent you from picking an option you might regret later. Here is a breakdown of each Outriders Class and what they have to offer.

Selecting a Class

First-time players will need to finish the prologue before selecting their character’s Class and unlocking special abilities. The Prologue is an excellent introduction to the Outrider’s story and takes roughly 45 minutes to complete.

After you finish the prologue, you are given a choice to pick one of the four classes: Technomancer, Pyromancer, Trickster, and Devastator. Each class has its own merits and strengths, and there is no wrong choice. But your Class selection is permanent for your character, so understanding the differences between classes is crucial before making a choice.

It is worth mentioning that when you create a second character, you are given the option to skip the prologue and jump right into the Class selection. This makes it easier to start a new playthrough or try a different Class if your first choice was not ideal.

The Four Classes

Before breaking down the different Classes in Outriders, let’s look at the similar options they include. Each Class has eight skills that unlock as you progress through the game. Only three abilities can be used at a time, so experimenting and finding the skills you enjoy is essential.

Each Class also features a Class Tree with dozens of options to boost your character with unique bonuses. There are three branching paths in each Class Tree. Each path caters to a specific playstyle for the Class, and players can experiment to see which build they prefer.

The passive skills in the Class Tree are unlocked with Class Points that players receive as they complete the story. You get 20 points per Class Tree, but they can be reassigned as needed. Don’t worry about selecting the wrong option. Pressing one button will take back all points, and you can respec as needed.

An important distinction between the Classes is how they regain health. All four Classes regenerate health based on different things like damage done to enemies or killing enemies within a certain range. Remember that each Class earns health in a specific way, which can dictate how you play Outriders.

Now that we’ve established the Class basics, here is a detailed look at what each class has to offer, the Class Traits, and a list of their Skills.

Technomancer

The Technomancer is the dedicated long-range class that excels at dealing damage from a distance. The Classes’ Long Range Weapon Damage boost is perfect for using a sniper rifle and delivering massive damage without risk. The Technomancer also has several defensive abilities to help keep enemies from overwhelming your position.

The Technomancer heals with the Skill Leech and Weapon Leech traits that add a percentage of damage dealt its health. This is excellent when dealing with isolated targets from a distance. Just remember that the Technomancer is not suited for close-quarters engagements and that too many enemies can overwhelm you.

Class Traits

Long Range Weapon Damage Increased by 15%.
Increase Skill Leech by 15%.

Pyromancer

Outriders Class Guide

The Pyromancer is capable of dealing massive damage to multiple targets. But this only works if enemies are marked with their abilities. Pyromancers inflict Burn on Ash on enemies, which chips away at enemy health. This class also heals when Marked enemies die, so Pyromancers should constantly be Marking enemies to heal and help their team control the horde.

It is important to remember that the Pyromancer’s skills will not instantly eliminate enemies. This class can still be overwhelmed by multiple opponents, so it is best to Mark enemies from a distance before moving in to finish them off. This class is an excellent choice for players who want to support their teammates by making enemies easier to kill and keeping them in one spot.

Class Traits

Receive additional 10% Anomaly Power.
Skills Mark damaged enemies for 15 seconds. Killing a Marked heals you by 24% of your maximum health.

Skill Tree Options

Trickster

Outriders Class Guide

The Trickster is a devastating Class that obliterates enemies with close-range attacks. However, the Trickster cannot take as much damage as the Devastator, but its movement abilities allow it to strike and retreat with ease. This Class excels at slowing and damaging enemies to either finish off enemies or leave as easy targets for teammates.

The Trickster heals by securing Close Range kills, but remember that this Class is not designed for heavy damage, and retreating is often necessary. But kills also grant a small portion of Shielf to keep players in action. The Trickster also has some of the most fun abilities in Outriders, and players should consider dedicating at least one character to this class for the experience.

Class Traits

Receive additional 5% Max Health.
Active Shield grants 5% damage mitigation.
Every close-range kill heals you by 20% of your maximum Health and grants you 20% Shield.

Create a shockwave that suspends enemies in the air, leaving them unable to fight for 3.5 seconds and inflicts Weakness.

Devastator

Outriders Class Guide

The Devastator is the designated Tank in Outriders. This powerful Class can take a significant amount of damage without issue, and it heals by killing enemies within Close Range. The Devastator’s abilities increase the amount of damage it can take, immediately kill or damage enemies, and push enemies out of cover.

Players who enjoy an up-close and personal fight will enjoy the Devastator class. It thrives in overwhelming crowds, and the Class’s health regeneration ability keeps it in the fight without a problem. Devastators can keep enemies at bay and deal massive damage, while a Technomancer deals damage from a distance or a Trickster provides support from medium range. Any party should consider running a Devastator as it is one of the most versatile Classes in Outriders.

Class Traits

Receive additional 15% maximum Health.
Increase Armor by 30%.
Every close range kill heals you by 24% of your maximum Health.

Skill Tree Options

Vanquisher: Increases Weapon Damage

Gravity Leap

Type: Kinetic, Interrupt

Leap into the air and strike your targets from above, dealing damage and Interrupting enemies within a small radius of the area you land in.

Reflect Bullets

Type: Protection.

Create a barrier that captures all enemy projectiles and accumulates damage. After 10 seconds of triggering the skill, the accumulated damage is reflected back to enemies in front of you. The barrier also protects against melee attacks by reflecting some damage back.

Impale

Type: Seismic, Interrupt

Select a target to Interrupt their skills, inflict Bleed, and deal damage. If the damage is lethal, the enemy will be impaled, creating a zone that grants a powerful bonus to Armor and Health regeneration to all allies in range for 9 seconds.

Experiment with your Class

Every Outriders player has several character slots that allow them to try different classes and builds. If you are tired of one Class or want to try another, feel free to hop into another character. Remember, you can respec your Class Tree as many times as you want, so don’t be afraid to try different skill combinations. Also, talk with your friends to see what skills you should be running to form an effective synergy.
