Team Liquid’s win streak continues as Oheb and the rest of the team took a decisive 2-0 against the current world champions ONIC Philippines. The rivals Oheb and Kelra both played masterfully but Oheb came up on top this time with his team for the first half of MPL Philippines Season 15. To finish the series, Team Liquid had an amazing shot call in the end to finish the 2nd game with a bang.
The First Clash
During the first game of Team Liquid PH vs ONIC PH, Team Liquid PH dominated the entire game as they didn’t give ONIC PH room to breathe, taking neutral objectives one after the other, and initiating teamfights to be favorable to them. Eventually, ONIC couldn’t handle the pressure Team Liquid PH was giving them. The first game ended very decisively as Team Liquid just decided to dominate today and not let any trace of comeback for their opponent.
For the second game, ONIC had a good lead, winning clashes, getting neutral objectives, and contesting decent space on the map. The game eventually came to a stalemate until a 200 IQ play was made by Team Liquid using Luo Yi’s ultimate, Diversion. Team Liquid teleported to what they call “Baloy Vision”, where there’s a blind spot inside the base that teams don’t expect for an entire team to pop up and surprise them. Upon using this strategy, they were able to go straight to the backline of ONIC, picking off their main carries, Kelra and K1NGKONG in the process.
What’s more to this strategy is aside from using the minions entering ONIC’s base as their vision giver, they timed it perfectly to use the minions as their pushing power to end the game. ONIC was left in awe as they were dropped with something unimaginable to happen.
We Are Fated Rivals
I got the chance to speak with Oheb after the game and here’s what he had to say.
Do you think that you and Kelra are really fated rivals due to all the similarities that you guys have?
Oheb: I think so. Since what the stats point to. The data really says it all when it comes to our rivalry. We’re almost the same in our entire career. When I think about it, we entered the pro play at the same time, that’s why it matches that we can be fated rivals.
Zen: Whenever we mention rivalry in MLBB, people always think of you and Kelra.
Why do you think you guys are the ones people always think first?”
Oheb: I think it’s because of past events before concerning us both. We trashtalked to each other a lot. There’s really several things that happened, especially when we face them. I think that’s what stuck to people for our rivalry.
With the match concluding to Team Liquid PH’s 2-0 sweep against ONIC Philippines, the current score of Kelra and Oheb’s rivalry is now 7-10 (with a score of 23-27 games won).
When asked Oheb what his message to Kelra is in order to catch up to the current score, he replied:
“All I can say is, let’s just keep our rivalry healthy. I can’t say who will bounce back and win or not. I can only say myself that I will always give my best whoever I’m matched up against with.”
Team Liquid is set to face TNC Pro Team and Aurora Gaming next week and are on the road to having a perfect run for half of the season. Aurora is also gunning for that perfect run, which means next week will determine our top team as we end the first half of regular season. On the other hand, ONIC Philippines needs to bounce back tomorrow as well as the next week if they still want to have a good half of the regular season. They have 3 more games left if they still want to maintain a positive score, moving on to the 2nd half of MPL PH S15 Regular Season.
