IESF WEC 2025: Indonesia Recaptures MLBB Female Division Championship

As women’s esports continues to climb to new heights, this year’s WEC once again reaffirmed the immense talent and growing influence of female athletes in the global esports landscape.

A Growing Platform for Female Esports Athletes

In recent years, IESF has made significant strides in developing competitive opportunities for women, reflecting a broader industry push toward inclusion and representation. Past partnerships with organizations such as Women in Games established pathways for female competitors, and these initiatives continue to shape the evolving competitive environment.

This year’s edition further solidified that momentum with the MLBB esports Women’s Division, which featured 12 national teams spanning Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The diverse lineup emphasized IESF’s commitment to opening international stages for women, ensuring major esports titles aren’t limited to traditionally male-dominated brackets.

IESF’s continued support for women-specific brackets, seen not only in MLBB but in other titles such as CS2, demonstrates a growing recognition of the importance of gender-inclusive spaces. By providing international platforms, the federation helps foster participation, develop emerging talent, and ensure that esports evolves into a more equitable arena.

The highlight of the women’s competition was the commanding performance of the Indonesia Women’s MLBB National Team, who delivered one of the most dominant runs in recent WEC history. Entering the tournament with high expectations following strong regional showings, Indonesia exceeded all predictions with a flawless journey from group stage to championship.

In the group stage, Indonesia set the tone early by sweeping both Turkey and Uzbekistan with convincing 2–0 victories. Their synergy, sharp rotations, and confident drafting quickly established them as the team to beat. As the playoffs progressed, they continued their perfect trajectory, dispatching every opponent without dropping a game.

The Grand Final saw Indonesia face Cambodia, one of the event’s biggest surprises and a rising contender in Southeast Asia’s women’s MLBB scene. Despite Cambodia’s spirited run, Indonesia’s discipline and cohesion proved overwhelming as they sealed the championship with a decisive 3–0 victory. Following their victory in the 2024 IESF WEC Women’s MLBB, they’ve claimed another title.

The win marked yet another world title for Indonesia and reinforced their status as a powerhouse in women’s mobile esports. Their coaching staff credited the achievement to rigorous preparation and long-term developmental programs that have elevated the country’s talent pipeline in recent years. 2025 is definitely the year for Indonesia’s MLBB Women’s Team after winning the MWI 2025 in the Esports World Cup too.

What It Means for Women’s MLBB

For Women’s MLBB, especially for Southeast Asia—a region where MLBB tournaments continue to be a cultural and competitive force. The results of WEC 2025 present both inspiration and challenge. Nations like Indonesia and Cambodia have shown that strong, well-supported women’s programs can yield world-class results.

The Philippines, which narrowly missed qualification this year after a third-place finish in regional qualifiers, now has a clear benchmark for future development. With a passionate MLBB community and an emerging pool of female talent, the country’s path toward stronger international performances remains promising.

The 2025 WEC women’s division has raised expectations for the future. With rising participation, growing fan support, and increasing institutional backing, women’s esports is positioned to become an essential, celebrated pillar of global competitive gaming.
