VKS Disamis: “Our scrims were really bad. I don’t think we learned much.”

After a sounding loss in the opener match, we sat down with VKS Disamis to get more insights on the match, why VKS is struggling, and why he thinks FlyQuest has a chance against T1.

Davide: First of all, that’s unfortunate that you were not able to take the win. What were your initial impressions on the match and

Was there anything in particular that stood out that you thought you wanted to do better?

Disamis: I mean, I think we could do a lot of things better. I think our game was really sloppy from level 1. You know, the late invade we die.

Overall, the game was really sloppy. I think the only reason we could actually play the game was because Mireu was really strong, you know, so, I mean, we could do everything better. And I also think they played well. I don’t think they (TSW) are a bad team. You know, they punish us. They played fast on their engage. They knew how to defend our plays and yeah, pretty much.

Do you think that has something to do with the potentially lower amount of preparation due to the travelling issues?

Disamis: I don’t think so. I mean, maybe, but I don’t know. I think even if we had more time, maybe we’d still lose, you know, because our scrims were really bad. I don’t think we, throughout the week, learned much. I think we are just playing really bad right now.

Davide: Is it still something about figuring out how the meta is?

Is it like you’re not playing to the optimal meta or is it more just you guys maybe still not finding the best form individually and then obviously as a team?

Disamis: Yeah, I think it’s not about the meta, it’s more about our gameplay and we didn’t find our best form yet.

Davide: Trymbi yesterday mentioned cultural differences as one of the primary reasons he struggled a little bit at the start when he first joined.

How did you guys work it out together to get to where you are right now, here at Worlds?

Disamis: I think just time. I think time and conversation between the team and us making it work. I think it’s just about time and being comfortable talking to each other.

Davide: Any jungler you would like to face next? And the other question is,

What would be your top five junglers here at Worlds?

Disamis: Any jungler I would like to face. Let me think. I think Oner, maybe if they lose to FlyQuest. I think Oner would be cool.

Davide: Do you think FlyQuest has a chance?

Disamis: Yeah, I think so… And top five. It’s hard, bro. Let me think… Oner would be there. Canyon for sure. I think Oner can open it. I think overall the Korean teams are a bit better from what I’ve seen. So I’ll go for Kanavi. I think he’s really good. And maybe Inspired, maybe Tarzan… I don’t know, the last one is hard, but maybe Inspired.

What’s the thing that stood out [from Inspired]? You’ve played against him twice.

Disamis: I think the team play really well around him. I think this is the thing that stood out. They play really well around camps and really well around his tempo and he’s probably calling a lot of stuff. It’s really good to play against them.

Davide: Brazilian fans are very passionate.

What do you think is the standout thing that Brazilian fans have that other fanbases do not have?

Disamis: I just think we’re really passionate about sports and esports. Overall, I think it comes from football because it’s kind of a culture in Brazil.

Davide: Do you also follow other sports?

Disamis: I like football. I follow basketball a bit; not that much, but I like football. And the fans, they scream, they like to shout. They’re really passionate. So I think it’s a cultural thing in Brazil.

One last message to the fans. You can decide to do it in English or you want to do it in Portuguese.

Disamis: I’m sorry for today, I hope we can show our best game on the next days. And yeah, that’s it.

Davide: I mean, thank you very much for talking to us despite the loss. Good luck with your next matches. I know you have the habit of taking your shirt off for the victory, so hopefully we get to see that, since it would mean you take a victory.

Disamis: Thank you very much.
