Following their second consecutive loss at First Stand, KC Yike and Targamas spoke to the media during the post-game press conference.
Below is the transcript of the press conference after the match between KC and CFO on Day 2 of First Stand 2025.
You didn’t show the same signs of confidence and synergy as in the LEC, what has been different so far here in Korea?
Yike: Yeah, I mean it’s hard for me to figure out as well. I mean, it goes very fast, it’s been two days and for sure I’ve been disappointed with how I played and I’m not really sure the reasoning, I don’t wanna make excuses as well, it’s just how it is right now, yeah.
We’re seeing a different face from Karmine Corp. What explains these complicated matches?
Yike: I mean the synergy is not there as in LEC, I think we could be more in sync, I can be more in sync with my laners and we can make better plans. I think making plans worse and everything we’re kind of doing is just worse than before, I can’t really tell the reason for it.
With KC going 0-2 in the first two days of the group stage, they will now have to hope for a miracle turnaround in the next two matches, as they will face Top Esports and Hanwha Life Esports next. Unfortunately, the team won’t have a day break and they will have to play the matches back-to-back.
KC has faced challenges against both TL and CFO, do you think that adapting to these fearless drafts has been your biggest struggle or are there other key factors that have made it hard to execute your game plan?
Targamas: I don’t really think it’s about Fearless [drafts], I think in Europe we had a pretty good idea on what we wanted to do in the games and we all liked the format. I thinks it’s more about the fact that we didn’t have much time coming here, we didn’t really practice, [we had] like a few games, right, so for sure we’re a bit out of shape, individually but also as a team, and then I think in this tournament with the schedule we have it’s a bit hard to reset and find new ideas because we are playing everyday and we don’t have much time to think and improve on what we are doing wrong.
With only two matches left and little time to adapt, what do you think is necessary to turn things around? Do you still believe that qualification is within reach despite HLE and TES standing in your way?
Yike: Yeah, I mean, I always think it’s believable. No one is going to give up in the team and I think we can still do it. We’re going to commit in these games, and the most important thing is to not lose confidence and keep doing what we’re good at and just trying to have fun. I think that’s the most important for us.
